Someone please tell me I won't be sore like this every time!

Recommended Posts

I started with a trainer last week and I can barely lift a pencil I'm so sore. Somebody please tell me it's not always going to feel like this!! I can't live this way! Aaaaaaaaccckkkk! .... especially since we're not allowed to take Advil, my wonder drug!  :D:help:

Oh, BTW, I've tried hot tubs, heating pads, stretching, glutamine, Aspercreme....nothing seems to help much.

Hey - at least you're doing it! That's great. You know the old saying "no pain no gain." I don't exercise nearly as much as I should, so be proud of yourself. The pain does get better. Keep up the good work. And honestly, I don't think an Advil here and there will hurt you. I sneak them sometimes.

thanks for the kudos you guys...that was really nice of you and very encouraging.

Now that I have a few sessions under my belt, I do feel better. I worked quads for the second round Wednesday and am hardly sore at all...just the 'good kind of sore'. It's just when you work those muscles for the first time and intensely, it's a killer!! I think I'll be alright and I LOVE my trainer. He is really great.

Thanks again to all who responded!

You made me chuckle.... thinking back to my first time - it was terrible!! Now I only get a little sore for the next day or so and really not even very much. My trainer has become my new drug - Just love him!

Yes the pain will end, and when it does, you will love working out. It is not so much the working out that you will love, but the way you feel after you exercise. Keep up the good work. LadyK

I never knew you can not have advil ? why is that.
Because it is a GI irritant that can cause ulcers and perforations, etc. Especially bad for us because we have food (and drugs) sitting in our pouch for long periods. I plan on asking my doctor today if it is possible to take liquid (children's) advil every once in a while. There are times I just NEED it!! I have a weak/sore back and with all this exercise and lifting, etc. I sometimes really need it....it's the only thing that helps.

I try to stretch after working out. Especially my back. My doctor stated that after you lose so much weight your body can change and it is readjusting. I no longer have lower back pain though.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
