Hi! My name's Kerry and I'm having the RNY on November 11th. I have been fighting me weight since I was a little girl. Diagnosed with pcos, insulin resistance, and hypothyroidism 9 years ago and being unable to fight the pounds that just keep on piling on regardless what I eat or how I exercise has been very depressing. With 4 grown kids and 2 little grandchildren I decided it was way past time to take control of my life.

My husband is so very supportive as are my friends. I feel very blessed. I am glad to have found this support group. I have had a lot of questions answered and feel better knowing there are others who have felt the same way.

Congratulations! Kerry it is never to late to do something wonderful for yourself. I am 66 and had the surgery 6 weeks ago. I had amazing uncomplicated recovery and I have lost 44 lbs. I definitely feel a lot healthier. I look forward to hearing about your progress and seeing your before and after pictures.

Hi Kerry,

Looks like we are on the same track! My surgery is the 12th. I am excited but also nervous. It would be great if we could share this journey together.

I have two grown children and three grandkids. I am also blessed with a very supportive husband.

I know we are both going to do great and it will be so exciting to be on the losers bench in the very near future. This time next year we will be our new, healthier selfs!

Best wishes for an easy recovery!! :)

I'm so excited for you. I had my surgery on nov 4th. :) I'm also type 2 diabetic, and have pcos also. I'm happy to hear that you've been able to have children and grand children. I had this surgery in hopes for a possibility of being able to have kids. I'm glad you've decided to do this! Good luck and I can't wait to see where your journey takes you. :)

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I am anxiously awaiting next Tuesday to get here so I can begin my new life. I commend all who are joining in this endeavor. It always helps to have a support group that you can ask questions and turn to you when things are rough to give you a boost

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
