Two months from surgery and throwing up!

Recommended Posts

I am back in the hospital now. The doctor is saying that it is just a complication from the surgery. I don't want to accept that as an answer, but I guess I'll have to for now. Hopefully I'll go home today with anti nausea meds and just wait it out at home, continuing to get dehydrated.

Oh my Dear I can understand the frustration. I am not anywhere near in the same boat with you however I am fighting nausea. I absolutely can not do Water or I've chips they are the worst for me. I stick with sipping slowly on Protein Drink, juice, or sf popcicle. My dr gave me zofran which dissolves on the tongue an it does seem to help. I hope you are doing better. Please let me know I you find anything that helps.

Thanks. My doctor has given me Zofran along with Reglan to calm my stomach but I am still throwing up. Recent blood work showed elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin. I will have a HIDA scan this week to check my gallbladder to see if that's the issue. I haven't had a lot of pain but just over the past two days the nausea and vomiting have gotten worse. I now have blurred vision and numbness/tingling in my upper legs. I just want all of this to be over. This is going on week four of not being able to keep anything down. My body is tired. I've been admitted in the hospital twice and do not want to go back. I'm determined to go to work tomorrow! I just want some relief, no matter how it comes. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I appreciate them.

I am back in the hospital, round three. I had a HIDA scan done yesterday that revealed that my gallbladder is not functioning properly so it will be removed sometime this week. I had a PICC line inserted this afternoon for fluids and nutrients since I am still, after four weeks unable to keep anything down and am super dehydrated. This has not been a fun journey and although I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I am ready for this to be over and to get back to living life. Four weeks out of work, I am going broke and I thank God for insurance but worry about how much will be covered.

They need to give you meds for nausea. I had the sleeve done 4 weeks ago and I've been throwing up on and off sense then. Even just Water. But the nausea pill does help.

I too was admitted again last weekend to the hospital with dehydration. I'm feeling better, but I fluctuate between phase 1 and phase 2.

Just take it slow

I am on nausea medications but at this point, nothing is really helping. It's terrible!

My mother was having similar problems earlier this year that ended up being her gall bladder. When her gall bladder was removed, the problem cleared up immediately. I hope yours does as well.

Had my gallbladder removed last Thursday and am doing much better! Dr released me from the hospital Monday. The hardest thing is making sure I get enough fluids in daily. It's Popsicles and Gatorade for me for a while...

I have a follow up appointment with him tomorrow and am hoping he says I can return to work on Monday. Five weeks out of work now, no good. And next week is only a three day work week so I should be good to go. Thanks for all the concern! Hopefully this will put a stop to my sickness.

Glad to hear you're doing better at last - you've had a tough time. Hope you feel strong enough to go back to work next week - lucky it's just three days.

No, he didn't prescribe that. Oh well, no going back now! It's gone. And I'm glad it's gone cause I'm not sick anymore to the point of not keeping anything down at all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
