Here endeth the stall

Recommended Posts

I survived my first stall. It was a long two weeks of that scale not budging. I hope it's a nice long time before this happens again.

Yay – you made it through! Hopefully you'll have a nice long run now before the next one kicks in. Keep making good choices!

That's so reassuring to hear. My scaled has been stuck for a week ???? and I'm only 3 weeks post op. Did you do anything differently or change things up that may have helped the stall?

Hey Jessica,

Here's my blurb on that...

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or more. But don't worry -- after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. If you're interested, here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again like crazy!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

I hit the four month stall and haven't lost much in 6 weeks. But I am staying on program, exercising, and no losing faith. I've talked to several nurses about it and they assured me this happens.

@@Rogofulm - thank you, I had not seen that & appreciate it-I am not quite 2 weeks out & have lost 15 lbs so far, it's good to be prepared.

congrats on breaking the stall!

I just broke my first stall too. I'm 9 weeks out and hadn't lost anything since around week 5. I was in that place where I wondered if the surgery worked of me.

But it's over (yay) and I have faith that this works, even for me :-) I think I'm better prepared to face the next stall.

Great article thanks! I am 5 1/2 weeks out and just came out of a 2 week stall. I wasn't worried because everyone keeps talking about it, but did not understand the physical reason so thank you for sharing. Now 6 lbs just melted away in under a week????????

Yeah.... My losses have really slowed down for the past 3-4 weeks. I'll get an occasional 1-1.5 drop, but then nothing for another week or so. It's tough sledding, but we know this is part of the process. Just waiting for the roller coaster to start down again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
