They won't give me steroids as inhibits healing. Basically was told to stay on gatorade another or go in tomorrow night for dehydration. Happy freaking thanksgiving. Figures that I'll ruin it for everyone as we are hosting

I've yet to be hungry, but since I know how important it is to get my fluids and Protein in, I drink throughout the day.

I start with a Premier Protein shake (11 oz. of fluid; 30g protein), then I drink a 20 oz. Vitaminwater (I'm still having a hard time with pure water), then I drink another Premier Protein Shake. After that I fill in with more Vitaminwater or some Soup. I usually run out of time for much more though. My goal is to get to 64 ozs, but right now it's difficult.

Well guys! I did it! Besides having the WORST dry mouth of my life, I'd say things are going well so far!

I'm drinking okay. It.hurts a little, but I was told I'm over doing it. So my nurse brought me a medicine cup and I can only drink that every jour for now.

I was shocked to learn I only have to be on Clear liquids today, and tomorrow I can move on to full liquids. It's going to be like heaven after 4 weeks of sweet Boost diabetic! Mmmmm soup! Even if it's hospital food I'll take it!

Thank you for thinking of me, and I'll keep you updated as things progress!

Sheena :-)

You are doing great!!!!

I'm totally jealous that you get Water that quickly - I could have NOTHING the day of surgery! I had to wait until 10am the next morning to have ice chips!!! They were the BEST ICE chips EVER!!!!!!!!

Here's to a speedy recovery!!

Hi Sheena.

Glad to hear you made it thru surgery and are doing well. Also glad that you're able to do full liquids soon. I had to wait a week...VERY HARD! Yes it's going to be a task trying to get those liquids in at first but as time goes, it gets much better.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! I am week 5 post-op so I'm able to eat most of my favs. Just got done nibbling on some sweet potato soufflé.... Yummy!!

Yester day was a good day. Today not so much. I was sent home from the hospital because my surgeon said I looked good. So I'm at the hotel and not feeling well at all. My stomach hurts and I'm so nauseous I think I'm going to be sick!

Was anyone else like that? What did you do for it? And if you did throw up were you okay? I'm here all alone at the hotel and I'm kinda freaking out a bit

Yes, you definitely need some meds for nausea. I was sent home with them and took them the first few days like clockwork. My stomach was also painful and full of pressure and tightness. I was also sent home with pain meds and took them like clockwork the first 4-5 days. Walk too....that helps with the pain. Best wishes.

Ditto that you need anti-nausea meds. My doc prescribed anti-nausea meds that I was instructed to take for two weeks after surgery.

Vomiting after surgery was a big fear of mine, and luckily I didn't, but others at the hospital having surgery on the same day as me did vomit. They said it didn't hurt anywhere near what they feared. Don't know how comforting that is. ????

Being dehydrated can also cause nausea, I think, so be sure to sip something regularly. I've had a rough time with plain Water, so Vitaminwater has been a lifesaver. I find I'm also more prone to nausea if I wait a long time between drinks, so I also keep one by my bed at night and sip whenever I wake up to roll over.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
