De-Banding Next Month

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

So I was banded on 1/19/12 and everything was going great. Then, I stopped loosing weight and after a few more months, I started to gain again. I am currently in the process to get the band out due to complications that seem more common than not in many patients.

- Constantly vomiting, things getting stuck, can't lay on my stomach, random pains in band site (some severe, but only occasionally).

Today I got all the saline out (my previous surgeon put over 9cc in and I thought it was 5!) Now I am planning on getting the band out on 11/6/14 and then the sleeve a few weeks later, although I am still contemplating that.

Has anyone gone through this and can help me with what to expect.

I didn't have much pain getting it in and was back to work 5 days later. (I'm a teacher.).

How was removing it different for you?

9cc in how big a band??

If it is a 10cc band which seems to be the common size, it's no wonder your life was hell....

BTW, where in NJ???

I'm in Mercer County. I see your an fellow NJ member too! Where about?

When I got all the Dailey out, it actually felt like a release and my new surgeon said some people feel that. I'm still amazed I didn't have complications earlier but she also said that sometimes this happens.

So why get the band removed??? Now that you know what the problem was...it can be adjusted properly

I had my Surgery in Freehold, where my Surgeon also has his Bariatic Practice....Centra-State Hospital

I just want it out... Too many bad things with it and it can't be guaranteed it won't happen again anyways.

My friend had her surgery in Freehold. I was in New Brunswick. Now I'll be in Princeton.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
