My sharp pulling pain is on my right side when getting up, right under the rib there. My large hematoma is on my lower left. today is 7 days post op. I have one more dose of Lortab and I am still very sore, but as doc said, no refills. so worried about how I am gonna be by end of day tomorrow.

Wanna see the hematoma, it is not pretty, right on the apron/skirt of fat.

I feel the pain now too, not bad at all but just uncomfortable, my pain meds ended yesterday morning and my son elbowed my incision a few times, he needed to sleep on me and I let him because he doesn't understand that he can't anymore and he was usto it before so I didn't want to take that away from him, also the glue fell off now my incisions are like raw. My post op is tomorrow and I'm going to ask for more or something lighter that will help because tylenol isn't doing anything for me. I felt a pull yesterday while getting up from bed and in the mornings I feel very sore, I was also very dizzy today like a floating feeling.

Post op 7 days left side abdominal pain when getting up from couch or turning in bed walking short distances feels like its stretching tearing pain an others advice?

I had the same thing, only on my right side. It is still a bit sore while bending but has been much better the last few days. I use to have to hold a pillow while deep breathing/coughing because of the pain. It will get better soon.

I'm scared. Some chest pressure since last night. It's that full feeling you get but it won't go away.

Hey everyone!

So I'm 12 days out and still have some pain in the upper right incision when I try to stand straight up. The band they gave me in the hospital helps a little. Anyone else having this problem?

I used a wedge pillow under my legs while I slept for the first two weeks. I found it was easier than wedging my back up. I had my knees super high almost almost perpendicular while I slept lol????

The pain while walking is normal. You can ask your doc for more meds if its too much to get around the house.

I'm at the point where I'm trying to wean myself of pain meds and trying to do 2 miles of walking daily. (My neighborhood is gorgeous right now! Photo below) It fucking hurts???? but every day gets s little better I think cause the walking stretches out the damaged muscles in my abdomen and makes the next time a little easier.

Hi everyone! I have been so busy the last few days, I haven't been able to keep up with everyone here. How is everyone doing? I had my Pre-Op Education at my Bariatric Office yesterday and got my 'before' picture taken. Thursday is my appointment at the Hospital to pre-register and then Friday I have my appointment with the surgeon. The 29th is going to be here before I know it! I'm trying to get things finished up and caught up at work since I will be out for a few weeks. I was talking to one of the girls at work that I am also friends with this morning and told her that she will have to come visit me while I am home recovering. She laughed and said, 'yeah, I will come and bring you food'. REALLY?? That really pissed me off. Why in the world would anyone say that to someone who is getting ready to have Weight Loss Surgery. She knows I won't be able to eat 'normal' for a while. Ugh...that just frustrated me.

Oh well...I hope everyone has a great day!

Kim

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
