Went to my 6 week checkup today. I've only lost 20 pounds, the doctor said that is slower than normal (Oh Yay) I haven't been exercising but I'm going to start. I do get my Protein and Water in.

Hello everyone first congrats on your choice to being healthy first of all as long as your getting in your Protein and Water and exercising the weight will come off you will have many stalls because you just had major surgury but it will come off trust me, it does not matter if it comes off slow or fast as long as it is going down , remember just because the scale is not moving does. It mean you are not loosing inches. Focus on one day at a time my friends you will get there .

I'm eating about 950 calories a day and 90g of protien. My weight loss has only been 3 lbs in the past week. What should be daily caloric intake?

3 pounds in a week is a ton of weight loss!

I'm eating right at a 1000 calories/ day, sometimes less and maybe that's some of the reason I'm probably not losing the weight like i should. My doctor wants me to eat 3 meals a day but that is really hard for me since i work second shift.

Hello everyone hang in there focus on one day at a time the weight will come off I am 7 months post opt and remember you did not gain weight overnight so you are not going to loose it overnight this is a life time commitment loosing weight slowly allows your body to adjust as well as allow you time to work on tone your skin as well. Although the scale may not be moving there are inches and changes happening in your body. As long as the scale is going downward and not upward you are making progress, how do you feel? Focus on one day at a time you can do this.

I know how you feel. I lost fast in the first few months, then it slowed to about 1.5/week. Now I've been at exactly 50 lost for a full month - 4+ months post-surgery now. I would like to see 20 more, but now I'm at the point that I have to do more of the work. Back to the gym in January (like EVERY OTHER JANUARY! ha ha). I have an acquaintance who had surgery after me and she is always checking in on my loss, like it's a contest. I might not end up a size 4 like some people do. I'm at a 12/14 right now. Some days I am discouraged and other days I think I look hot. But I definitely know I would NEVER be able to lost 50 lbs. on my own without the surgery, so I am thankful for where I am. If I can go further, that will be a blessing.

To everyone on the "slow loser" list,

Don't sweat it too much! I'm not talking from experience as I haven't had my surgery yet but keep in mind that the weight didn't collect on our keesters over night but over years. Also, keep in mind that under normal no-surgery circumstances that losing weight too quickly can be bad for you and doesn't always stay off as long as slow and steady weight loss does.

Keep your chins up and stay strong. I know we can all lose the weight we want and be healthy!

AmyC56,

Way to stay positive! I'm a firm believer that attitudes make up a huge part of our daily lives and progress through anything. Despite the 20lbs you still hope to lose you are down 50 more than you would have been without surgery. I wear a 22 and about a year ago I finally decided to get rid of my cute little 10-14 size clothes. It was a tough decision but after collecting dust for ten years I convinced myself they were probably out of style anyway. Lol

You can shop now! Woohoo! BTW, Marilyn Monroe was a size 14 and Tyra Banks was a sized 12 super model.

I'm at 4 months too and in a major stall. I care that my rapped lose has slowed but I look at it like this and it's simple math. If you are burning more calories than you're taking in it has to equal weight loss.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
