It is totally normal to stall. STOP weighing every day if you are doing that and focus on your behaviors.

That is over 15 lbs a week. Come on you must know that your body is going to take exception to this fact and slow down if not stop to catch up.

We are built to always compensate for what we do to ourselves or what happens to us in life. No matter what our eyes will always look to the horizon. The amazing machine we are will go into starving mode and will start to store fat feeling the body is in distress. After it feels safe you will start to lose again. Aren't we amazing creatures. LOL

Stop weighing yourself every day or even once a week at this time. You have the rest of your life during maintenance to do that. For now follow the course and you will get there. Maybe not today or tomorrow but you will get there. Focus on why you got here and change your habits as you go through this journey. These are the things that will help keep those lbs off.

This is a journey hun, not a race or sprint! This is the rest of your life! :)

Congrats Sharie24,

I'm just a little bummed. I will be 5 weeks out tomorrow and have only lost 20 post op. I shouldn't say "only", because I know 25 pounds in just 5 weeks is amazing...and I'm certainly glad I didn't gain 25 pounds. It just seems like every time I read a message on almost every topic area on this site, people are losing 30-35-40 in just 4 to 5 weeks.

I did go to a nutritionist yesterday, because I did the self-pay route in Mexico to be able to afford. The care was exceptional, but the one piece that they were pretty thin on was nutrition and diet. The nutritionist told me the reason most people complain of the "3-week stall" is that your body thinks you are trying to starve it. Once it gets balanced...and gets balanced nutrition...is starts shedding the fat rather that clinging on to it or dear life.

What are some of the things you are doing to have lost such a significant amount of weight. Any tips to share? What was your pre-op weight? Did you get weighed the day after surgery? What was that weight? I certainly understand if you'd rather keep that information private. I was just hoping to get an idea as to why you are having such great success and maybe incorporate some of your feedback into my own routine. Thanks, Marybeth

Wait, you've lost 47 pounds in 3 weeks and you are complaining about not dropping weight fast enough? I'm four weeks post-op and have lost just under 15 pounds since my surgery.....

@@sharie24, I didn't read that you're complaining about anything just that you are wondering why you have come to a stall. I hope that these explanations help you and your stall doesn't last too long. Congrats on your progress!

Mbrinmn, I think we are all in different situations: ages, lifestyles, health, and Lord knows it seems every surgeon and Nut have their own special guidelines for us. I think we need to be careful about comparing our results. I lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks post op but I was so sick all I could handle was broth and tiny glasses of Water. I expect to lose a lot slower now. Sounds like you are making great progress. You are going to be great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
