I feel like I can eat too much for 2 weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

Im almost 2 weeks out and I can only eat a few little bites of pureed meats and only a half of a scrambled egg... but yogurt? I can eat a full 4 oz no prob. (I eat slowly still, making it last about 25 min). same with thinned mashed potatoes. Is this normal? Can I eat that much of those things because they are thinner? I stop when I feel satisfied/done but thats at 4 oz or so.

im worried that Im over eating! But I honeslty dont feel full or satisfied as quick as I do with eggs.

Lori,

You won't really feel much restriction with anything liquid. Your stomach is basically a funnel right now for Soups, and shakes. The same holds true for yogurt. The reason you feel full with the egg is it is slightly more dense. =) You are doing fine, just keep in mind as you move to soft foods to keep that slow pace you are using on the yogurt

I'm glad I found this topic, if I make mashed potatoes like a Soup, ( with cottage cheese and soy milk), I can eat it, I can tolerate pudding and greek yogurt if I eat slowly, (30-45 minutes per meal). I too felt as if I can eat too much even though I was sleeved a week ago today. My surgeon and her team let me leave the hospital on a stage 3 diet. The other day I had a few slices of pureed roast chicken and broth and I ate it as a Soup. I tolerated it okay, but I started feeling as if I was eating too much or moving too fast.

Thank you so much for creating this post, if you, (or anyone), has any tips, or believes I am moving too fast please let me know, my follow-up isn't until the 10th of September and I feel as if I'm doing things wrong even though I'm sticking to the plan, ( weird I know!)

wow Kandis I wish I was sent home on stage three because I so wanted to chew real food. I think the main thing is getting in the fluids and Proteins and we should be fine as I have been reading this forum for days. Best thing I came across was this forum. I'm 16 days out 23 lbs down and starting to feel like this was the best thing for my health. Good luck and hang in there. I was told we're on a good journey.

@@jelmore8312000 I'm starting to realize that stage 3 diets vary depending upon the surgeon. My stage three diet looks more like a stage two with yogurt and pudding. There's no pureed food, I only tried pureed foods and mashed potatoes because I saw it in another stage three diet, but I can have scrambled egg whites, and those are the hardest to digest!

We're on an amazing journey indeed, there's gonna be major ups and downs, but I know we can get through it!! Best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
