I do the same as you . I eat meat meat and oh yea meat. I drink a premiere Protein Shake half at a time . Your body can't absorb all that Protein at one time. I eat a egg a day and a 100 cal Greek yogurt . I love the p3 protein Snacks and turkey Jerky bites. I was eating seafood but my hair was thinning so I switched to cooking beef patties ( for iron) on George Forman with sautéed mushroom and onions peppers . I am a slow and steady 2 pounds per week looser .

April 14th here. I am up to anywhere between 55-75g of Protein a day. Besides a Protein shake once a day, I have a variety of other Protein rich food items such as cottage cheese, greek yogurt, mozz cheese sticks, babybel cheese, egg whites, tuna, turkey and chicken. Also if I have any milk I add powdered milk to it to double the protein (my nutritionist calls it double milk). I still struggle with getting in enough fluids though. I tend to only get in about 30oz of Water and then about 20oz of other fluids - G2, diet Snapple, crystal light etc.

My weight loss has been pretty good so far. I tend to lose a bunch of weight, and then nothing for 10-12 days. I'm down about 75lbs from surgery - so I'm pretty happy with that! :)

. I started with a tblspn of Peanut Butter once to twice a day and it made me feel a lot better. It has a little more than the recommended sugar but that was based off of two tablespoons as I was only eating one... I was told by my doctor to do a five day pouch run. That's 1 day of straight liquids, two days of Soups and soft foods the fourth day fish any and the fifth day all Proteins (meat)... I plan on starting that soon to kill my last 10. Everyone thinks I'm small enough and sd if I lose any more I will look like a crack-head...lol whatever I hv more to go...

Zoey are you exercisibg at all? I find that I struggle with Protein, I drink 2 shakes a yogurt every day protein from meat hurts. No matter how wet or how much I chew it, it's uncomfortable. As are veggies and fruits so I limit them, as I do bread.< /p>

chicken breast hurts going down, hamburger if I take to big of a bite, most fruit as u said, potatoes and more than 3-4 bites of bread...

Good morning @@starspring & @@ijones67 - I have been exercising quite a bit. I'm at the gym or out walking/jogging 4-5 times a week. Doing a lot of cardio, but also a lot of weight training as weight training burns more calories longer. I'll be doing the Biggest Loser race this upcoming Sunday and am super excited about that. I'll be walking most of it, but will jog part.

Protein from meat has been good. I haven't had beef since surgery, so I'm not sure how my tummy would handle it. Fruits and veggies are just fine with me - I have a salad every day - for lunch or dinner (or both) with a Protein. I have very little bread as it fills me up to quickly, and since we take in so few calories as it is, I'd rather have quality calories.

your doing absolutely great... How long has it been since your surgery?

I cannot tolerate fruits as much as I love them, they make me cramp up & I cannot keep watermelon down & that was my favorite. I wish you luck with your up & coming event ????. I love salads but after 3-4 bites I'm done. I'm still at the stage that I'm seriously shuts wasting food...

Hey Jackie! Hope all is well!

I struggle so much with actual weight loss that I totally don't weigh myself at all. The last time I weighed myself, I was done 67 lbs and stuck there for at least 4 weeks. So i just quit it.

I do crossfit 5x a week and a brisk walk 2x a week.

It's definitely a process.

Surgery april 2nd

April 25th!!! So glad I did this for myself. Down 71 lbs and feeling great. Exercise at the gym 3-4 days a week and ride my horse on the days I don't go to the gym. I average between 70-90 grams of Protein a day. I still drink a shake split in half a day. I drink half in the morning and half before I work out. I try to limit carbs to those in vegetables or fruit. Haven't tried bread or Pasta since surgery and don't plan to as they are trigger foods for me. I use a lot of the bariatric foodie recipes!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
