My Gastric bypass was August 12 2014. My weight going in was 265lb I was closer to 280 before the pre op diet. I was not expecting the amount of pain I was in. I mean I'm a nurse and have actually worked in surgery, but the pain blew my mind. I'm allergic to Lortab so the med I came home with was much stronger. I was originally afraid to take it. A friend Finally told me I've got to stay ahead of the pain. Take it every four hours regardless. After doing that the pain was much better. I also had days where I would cry uncontrollably. It's still kind of a shock to my system that I actually went through with this. I'm ten days out now. Feeling much better. I have a soreness in my left side still but no more pain or nausea. My post op appt is tomorrow. I think he will advance my diet. I'm excited to try new foods. I hope somehow I can be a help to someone. This is probably the hardest thing I've ever done physically and emotionally. It's important to know, you're not alone.

Good luck on your recovery. I experienced very little pain with the surgery and refused any pain medicine after I left recovery. I believe it was primarily because I held to a strict regiment of walking each day prior to and after surgery. It helps to loosen things up and make the soreness go away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
