Okay just got my times...I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 7:30 am and surgery should be between 9:30 and 10. I am sooooo nervous. I'm worried that since my BMI is over 50 I will have complications.... I've had many surgeries and have never been this nervous. Amazingly though, the one person in my life that I thought would be the least supportive has stepped up and has been amazing. I hate to ask but I have 2 requests...can I get some words of encouragement and maybe a funny one liner for a smile. Sorry that I'm rambling...nerves.

You will be fine! I was TERRIFED too! I cried the whole time at the hospital before my surgery. My mom's BMI was over 50 when she had her sleeve. She will be two years out in December. Make sure you let us know how you are doing. Not sure if you are the praying type, but I will say one for you anyway.

What do you call cheese that isn't yours?

Nacho cheese!

Yes, just went there =)

You will do great! I was super duper nervous too. But you'll get that feel good medicine and you'll wake up like "it's over"???? no joke!

My one liner is: "burp"

Because after surgery you'll do a lot of that!????

@@Vsglady You're going to do great! Don't be afraid to ask for pain meds. They're definitely worth having in the hospital. They'll make you float like a cloud! :) Enjoy it

@@Vsglady good luck tomorrow sweetie! Stay positive & glad you found additional support. We all need it. One thing I did wrong was waited too late to ask for pain meds. If you feel the the pain coming on, like my nurse said...get ahead if it before it gets too bad. PRESS THAT NURSE BUTTON! Will pray for you,

Unfortunately, I have no jokes but looks like you got a few good ones from our sleeve sisters, they made me lol too. I so love our group.

Just checking in, 1 week out and feeling pretty good. Started full liquid diet today and getting energy back. Unfortunately the night I was in the hospital my dog fractured his femur and had surgery the next day. He has kept me on my toes????

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
