Day 4 of preop diet.

Recommended Posts

Hungry is an understatement. I ate a small pickle this morning and it was the best thing I ever tasted. I'm torn because I when I met with my surgeon he said its fine to eat if you get hungry, just absolutely no carbs. But when I met with the nutritionist she said only shakes and on occasion small piece of chicken. Is anyone else having a hard time or heard anything different from your docs?

I didn't have a pre-op diet but I know the want you on no sugars, processed flours or basically no carbs so your liver will shrink. What is it that you want to eat?

I hear you, I am on day 12 of the pre op diet!! Yesterday was HELL, I had to attend a bridal shower at my daughters for her best friend, and I thought I was going to fail, but I made it through!! Everyday I have only eaten a small amount of vegetables and all the shakes. It is challenging, but I am letting it be the beginning, and after all this we will have an appreciation for good food. Good luck on you journey :)

Yes that pre-op diet is rough . I had to do 14 days of shakes and Clear Liquids and on day 15 only clear liquids and suegery prep. I'd say the first week was the worst didn't want to speak with anyone and the headaches finally went away after 4 days. Just keep the goal in mind and how far you have come. Being on the other side is so worth it. Good luck and keep strong! :)

My doctor allowed chicken breast, turkey breast and can tuna in Water twice a day and I had no limit on my Protein Shakes. I bought a turkey breast from Safeway and threw it on my smoker. It was nice to nibble on throughout the day and tasty enough to distract me from temptation.

I also created the best chicken breast recipe my dr said was ok during preop.( I would still check with your before taking any ones advice.)

Chicken breast 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 packet italian seasoning. Marinate over night and throw on the grill. I suggest makes several days worth.

Well, I am now on day 2 after surgery which was on the 20th, I have no appetite, just trying to get down enough liquids and Vitamins, I feel good, not in any significant pain, definitely something new inside me!! Just trying to recoup, rest, and let it all heal. I see a lot of people saying they are hungry, and want more, but I am good, not nauseous , just content right now. Looking forward to the journey, just want to be HEALTHY!!

Good Luck with the pre op diet, it is really hard, this is not hard right now, as I am not hungry!! :) YET!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
