September surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm so sorry to hear that. I am having surgery tomorrow the 16th and might be in your boat. I've had my band for 9 years and am so concerned that I will have to wait another three months to have the bypass. Even if they can't do it all tomorrow, I will be thrilled to get my band out.

So sorry to hear that. It was one of my biggest fears as well. I had mine removed and revise this afternoon. I had my band in for almost 11 years. I'm having a lot of pain but my surgeon said it all went well

Hang in there. :)

My surgery was yesterday, they took such good care of me in surgery & recover and up here in my room! I have been walking a lot & doing great. My mom when she had the surgery in march had a bad time with the gas pains from where the 'blow you up' so I was really expecting that. I haven't had that tho. The worst I had was a horrible pain in my sternum and extreme nausea after waking up. Dr did say he could tell I did perfectly ok my liquid diet, and had lost 15lbs in that 10 days. Now only 100 more to go, ahhhh.... ????

Still at this point haven't had anything but ice chips!

Hope everyone is healing well and everyone who has surgery today, I'm sending prayers your way!!!

I am feeling like a yo-yo. I just got a call from the surgeon, himself. Because I am still on steroids (at the end of the tapering dose), he wants to postpone the surgery 3-6 weeks to avoid risk of leakage at the staple/stitch sites and not increase the risk of infection. So they'll call today with another date. So Aug was postponed until Sept, Sept will postponed until Oct or Nov. I am ok. Still singing Que Sera, Sera. It all happens for a reason.

For everybody else having surgery this month, best wishes for complete healing!

Heading home tonight!! So excited, feeling good, better than I thought I would today, the day after. Learned that hard lesson of not swallowing air when I drink and fat free vanilla pudding has never taste so good!

I hope everyone is doing great, can't wait to hear from everyone as you are recovering!!!

Wow so happy to see other September surgeries doing so well. Here is my update: today is day 5 post po and I am hungry. Starting tomorrow about moving up from 60g of Protein to 65g of protein working up to 80g a day. Cold Water is so much better then room temp.

I finally move alot lol of gas yesterday and feel almost normal today.

I still have pain but because I can move the gas the pain is alot less. I weigh myself today and from day of surgery I'm down 9lbs (I hope that is not to fast) is it normal that I dream about food? I'm walking more every day and I walked down my stairs yesterday and today. Just wanted this soreness to go away. But I'm happy ????

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
