September surgery

Recommended Posts

Do all of you who are scheduled on Sept. 8th and 9th have to do a liquid fast before surgery?

If so, we should start a thread so we don't get lost in the suffle and we can buddy up from pre-op through post op.

It will be nice to hear about everyone's experiences and to "feel" like we are in this together even in the hospital.

Yep, my surgeon requires a liquid diet that starts on Sept. 1st. I'm dreading it but I know that once it's started that means I'll be just days always from surgery.

A separate thread sounds like a great idea!

I completely agree with this. I'm not "required" to do a liquid diet pre op but based on what I've read I think it would be to my benefit to do so. I tried to just do Protein and a small meal for dinner yesterday and sheeeeshhhhhh. Talk about one of the most difficult days of my life! It would be nice to have a separate thread so we can all support each other and know we are 100% not alone!

Is anyone else a LAP band to bypass patient? I'd love to connect with someone else who is having surgery around the same time. Mine is Sept 15th.

I am lapband to bypass too and my surgery is also on the 15th. I have a lot to lose but this is my last hope. It has to work.

Congrats on receiving your surgery date. I am still waiting for mine. I had my psych eval last Friday and getting really impatient, LOL!!! This was the last thing needed prior to insurance submission for approval. I hope I receive word quick. I am so sick of my Lapband and ready to revise and get back to a healthy version of myself :)

I know the feeling I'm so scared now I don't know why lol. But I'm so happy that I'm getting the hard part out the way soon. Just be patient you'll have a date before you know It.

Jacksonville, Fl

Great! Bingcherry is in FL and is converting from LAP band to bypass on the 15th also. Go back a few pages for her post.

Oops I was asking Caroline where she lives.

I live in Brisbane Australia but luckily this site makes it possible to overcome great distances and still support people with the same issues. My biggest fear is that they cannot do the removal and bypass in one go, oh and I don't know if you also experience the "I need everything clean and sorted at home, just for incase". Don't know if it is the realisation that this is my final hope or what else but I am quite scared this time. I had my pre-op appointment today at the hospital, received my stockings and breathing thingy (to help with deep breathing). Excited and scared :)

I understand the concern about getting it done in one surgery! I have experienced a form of the "I need everything clean..." only I don't care if it isn't clean....I just wrote letters to my daughter and husband "Just in case." I felt a strange sense of relief after having done it and no longer thing I'm going to die  but now I worry about having horrible complications that result in me skinny but very very ill and a huge burden on my family. Am I helping to cheer you up? :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?
