Weight loss stall! Need advice!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am exactly 4 weeks post surgery. I have been having a hard time getting in all of the calories - working on the Water. I have been consistently at about 7-800 calories per day and have had no weight loss this week at all. Just stalled on the same number! Any one else experienced this?

EVERYONE experiences this. Use the search function and type in "stall". Or go to the "don't sweat the still stuff" subforum on here.

I am in to my eighth month post-op and still at 600-800 calories per day, and 80 grams of Protein. It is so hard to squeeze 80 grams of Protein in without drinking at least a couple of shakes, which I am not supposed to do. I have had many stalls where I would bounce around the same number for at least three weeks.

I have tried all of the tricks, and I am here to tell you that what worked last time may not work the next time. Your fat is going to go out kicking and screaming. Your body will try to outsmart you in spite of your best efforts. Go to the thread on stalls and see if you can find any help there. I can gain three pounds overnight and then it takes three weeks to get rid of it.

Stalls will test your patience. I have even tried 600 calories for three days and gained two pounds! Go figure. You have engaged in a battle for your life and you are going to have to stay committed. The best advice I can give for any post-op issue to get those fluids in. Being dehydrated will derail your best efforts, too.

When you log on to this website, go to Forums - Gastric Sleeve Forums - and scroll way down to DON"T

SWEAT THE STALL STUFF" You may find some good suggestions there. Good luck, sleeve sister.

Miss Mac thank you!!! I'm 5 months post op & thought I must be the only one who gains 3-4 lbs overnight! I know I've not ate enough to gain!!! Seems like I will gain overnight then stall for about 3 weeks then lose that 3 plus 1 or 2 more. Then repeat. I'm only 20-30 lbs from goal so I expected weight loss to slow.

Stalls do happen & they stink! Just don't give up. It will eventually even out. Also take your measurements. I am getting smaller even when the scale doesn't move. Best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
