I survived! Sleeve is complete!

Recommended Posts

The post-op pain is rough, not gonna lie. The gas apparently is really a big source of pain for me. Thankfully the pain meds help some. I am so thirsty! My throat and mouth are completely raw. How did everyone else fare on their sleeve?

Congrats on making it to the losers bench! I found that sucking on ice chips helped a lot with that horrible dry mouth. Stay on top of your pain meds so that the pain doesn't have a chance to creep back. Get up and walk around as much as you can. Hang in there, it gets better :).

i agree with walking!!! honestly i didn't have any issues with dry mouth or anything and i could not have a THING-food or drink, or ice,etc- for 24 hours afterwards. it went quickly and most of the first day and night i just slept.

walk as much as you can. it also will decrease your blood clot risk and also gets your lungs going again after being intubated...

Congrats. I agree with everyone walking is best to get the gas moving and to help feel better. I also had horrible dry mouth and couldn't drink anything for 2: hours. The nurses where nice to give me a little ice Water and a swab to wet my lips and inside my mouth and boy did that help. I did a lot of walking or sitting in a chair as it felt better then laying in bed on my back (old back injury so it was not fun). Good luck as you start this new journey.

Congrats on your successful surgery! I've heard the gas can be bad, ask if you're allowed Gas X strips that melt on your tongue, I heard those can be a life-saver!!

Congrats John!!!!

I am 11 days post op and feel pretty darn good.

Keep walking everyday and it will help with everything including getting your stamina back. Who ever knew that 2 days in a bed could take 5 or 6 days to recoup.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
