ok, please help me get my nerves in check. I am terrified. I have been doing ok since surgery, I am just over three weeks post op. Everything has been fine until the other day while sitting at my desk I got the sharp stinging feeling (quickly came and went) just above my bellybutton. I have not incision near the spot. It is right where my slacks button up or snap. It came and went and then when I went to get in my car and was in the seat and reached out to pull the door shut I felt it again. I do not feel it all the time only when I move in certain directions, attempt to bend or reach for something. I have had no fevers, no chills, weight in continuing to go down, eating ok feeling fine other than this. Even my energy level is good. I am terrified that the band slipped but is the band that low on my midsection, and that it means surgery again. As I said, scared to death. I don't know why I only feel it when I move certain ways. When I finish the post I am calling the doctor but am so afraid. Anyone with suggestions please.

I had this too. It is your insides adjusting to the band. You probably won't feel this for much longer.

Thank you. Glad to know I am not alone and I pray I am lucky like you with this. I am a wreck right now.

Your stomach wall is still healing from the port being stitched to it. but, if youre that concerned, maybe you should call your doctor.

I had the same thing and actually just last night after 15 months post op I bent the wrong way and my port didn't like it much, honestly it kind of freaked me out too because it really hurt but like Betty_s said it's always better to be safe then sorry so if you're concered call your doctor! It will ease your mind more than what anyone could tell you here:)

Hi there and congratulations on your band! These early days are a bit nerve-racking and of course you're still healing up, but there will be a time when you can hardly even see the scars anymore and everything won't feel so new and vulnerable. Good luck with everything -- you are doing beautifully!

About 6 months after surgery I began to get these sharp pains, like a knife, in my abdomen. Very painful.

Freaked me out too, so spoke with my Dr. about it....

What he said was happening to me was this...the port was anchored to the abdominal muscle wall with sutures...as I lost weight, and was eating less on a daily basis, not to mention exercising, my stomach was shrinking and getting firmer....since the port was placed when I was fat, it was now stretching and tearing as my abdomen shrunk...

It eventually stopped, never to happen again.

BTW, with so many stories about flipped ports, I wonder if this is something my Dr. does and not many others...

My doctor does plication where he stitches the band with some of the stomach skin and then he adds a stitch or two for safety sake. No fuss, no muss, no slips. Know of one doctor who does not stitch and all of his patients I have meant have had slippage issues.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
