I'm not complaining my only problem is I already have no restriction and I'm worried about advancing my food! I haven't so far but I can chug water like its nobodies business without any pain already.

Also some more good news. I'm down 27 lbs since the start of preop and my bp is spot on perfect, with my meds which hasn't happened in. 15 + years. Good news so far!

I can't chug Water yet. I can only hold 1/2 cup of mushers thought my day and I'm full for up to 4-5 hours so I have to wake up early and eat food throught my day and drink lots

I'm down 32 lbs I'm 13 days.

That's since surgery as of saturday June 28th

Sounds about right, with the lapband....in most cases they have not done anything other than "Install" the device....now is the post op phase where it is all about healing from the surgery and getting back to normal...which sounds like you are doing.

The next phase will be a series of band adjustments - fills....this is where the fun begins...

Four weeks after surgery I had my first fill, and it was a good one....after which I started to gain weight....untill my 2nd fill 4 weeks after that.....

I was very frustrated and upset to say the least....was told I needed to be counting calories, measuring portions, keeping a journal.....

I immediately told them that that was what I've been doing with just about every other diet I have ever been on, and there have been plenty, and I did not need surgery and all the hoops and $$ that went into it, just to do what I have done before....

They calmed me explaining the adjustment process, Yellow-Green-Red Zone, etc, etc, and until I got the band in good harmony with me, there was nothing else I could do but diet.....but I stink at diets so weight gain it was...even with the band.

For me it took 4-5 months after surgery to get it...then another few months of numerous stuck episodes, etc, adjusting my eating habits and behaviors, a new way of doing things...

Happy to say, having gotten through that phase, the band is, and has been working PERFECTLY for the last 3 years now.

Diet is a four letter word....I have adjusted myself to co-exist with a adjusted band, and have come to live a new lifestyle....a lifestyle that has brought me back to a normal weight, restored my health, and many other factors....

best thing I could have ever done for myself.....

I agree with B-52.... and, I could always "chug" Water... it took almost four months and three fills before I felt the band was doing anything. The follow up visits are extremely important. Getting the band just right takes a bit of time; and you have to wait for the body to heal before even having the first fill. I just had a small fill the other day, since my weight loss wasn't progressing as rapidly as it should have been. The band will need tweaking as the weight falls off, and over time.

I am 22 days post op and was worried about the same thing. Doctors office told me I am to be concerned with healing and the weight is important but secondary to healing. Of course we want the weight to all come off ASAP, I know I do. Anyway, when I recently got to solid foods I did feel a difference. I can still chug Water etc but I do get satisfied quicker than with the post op slider foods that are required right after surgery.

Also, some people feel a lot more restriction due to swelling. Those of us who do not have as much swelling after surgery have less restriction. Guess that is a good thing? lol

Time, we must be patient and ride this out for the rest of our lives.

Stick with the food rules you were given and you should be fine. Discuss it with your doctor at your next appointment. Remember, you are still healing, so take things slow.

Thx for the detailed response, much appreciated. Yeah that is my fear as well. If this is another count calories and carbs diet why did I waste my money! I'm glad to know restriction is coming. I need something to stop me :-)

I've bee banded over a year, have decent restriction though not ultra tight, have always been able to handle "chugging" water if I want to. So not sure this is a measurement of restriction to rely on. But as for food, the restriction will come with fills.

For me it was good that it took me some time to "get there" because I had such a learning curve in terms of slowing down my eating and not keeping going, etc., etc. I had my first fill at a month out and then regular visits for small fills. Every surgeon has their own way of going about this. Some people have primed bands at the time of surgery. I was glad I started with nothing and took it slowly so I could really learn to read all the signals. I feel so in sync with my body now. And having a dimmed appetite is a wonderful thing. I love my band and have loved these last eight months even with the requisite ups and downs, stuck episodes, etc. Best wishes to you!
