    Supervised Diet

Hi all. Just venting. I finally chose my surgeon after consulting with a few different choices. I am confused because they told me that my insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet while the other 2 offices I visited both said it is only a 3 month diet. (I have GHI) Now I am going to have to call my insurance company to find out which it is. I am hoping for 3 months but if 6 is necessary I will do what I need to do. Did anybody else have a similar experience?

    Post op: Is this normal!?

The walking is good for you, but only do what your body can handle. Call your doctor if you are concerned at all - that is what they are there for.

    New York Meet Up

I'll be there. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
  6. That's super!!! Congratulations on your success so far. Good luck with the surgery!!
  7. Stick with the food rules you were given and you should be fine. Discuss it with your doctor at your next appointment. Remember, you are still healing, so take things slow.

Need to get back on track

The window never closes! So sorry you lost your father. God luck getting back on track. Post here often, we are all here to support one another.
  9. I was allowed to do light exercise 1 week after surgery, but no stomach exercises for the first month. I did mostly walking to start. I also use some Walk way the Pounds videos. They are varied, so I wasn't doing the same thing every day. I started the c25k recently and finished week 3 day 1 yesterday. It was painful because I have trouble controlling my breathing. I am better at increasing the intensity by increasing the incline on the treadmill. Just do what feels good, but don't start out too strong. Your body is still in the healing stage. Good luck!!

    Fallen off the wagon already

We've all been there. It is not the first time this has happened, and it probably won't be the last. Use it as a learning experience. Think about how the behavior made you feel so the next time you are tempted, it might just slow you down a bit. Life is all about learning and growing from the mistakes we make (but in our case, we want to shrink!!). Just put it behind you and move on. Today is a new day.

    One Year Bandiversary!142+lbs Gone!

Congratulations!!! Happy Anniversary!! You are an inspiration!!
  14. Addiction is addiction. It comes in many forms, but is a struggle. food addiction is unique because we need food to survive. People with addictions with drugs or alcohol can quit the thing they are addicted to. Food addiction requires a different type of daily navigation to maintain recovery. You were absolutely not wrong in your comparison.
  15. Owing to the surgeon today and hoping to get my first fill. I was last there in February and he asked me why I was losing so much weight. That have my brain/emotional side permission to cut back on exercise and not pay as close attention to my portions and food choices. Now I have gained 10 pounds back and could just kick myself. The band is just a tool, and it is my job to use it responsibly. Hoping today puts me back on the track to weight loss and healthy choices. Thanks for listening!! Putting it in print makes me accountable.
  16. Sounds terrific!! I would love to be a part of this!!
  17. Happy Surgiversary!!! Congratulations on your success so far and for an amazing mental attitude. Continued success and happiness!!

    Does anyone know?

Each surgeon is different. It is something to ask your doctor on your next visit.

    Question....

My experience was similar. The doctor checked my incisions to make sure I was healing. He asked a few questions about how I was feeling, gave me some physical restrictions and said I could move on to solid food - mushies. I was just so excited to be able to have something other than a Protein shake that I forgot my list of questions that I wanted to ask. If you have any questions for the doctor, write them down and bring them with you so you won't forget. For my second appointment, I put them on the appointment page on the calendar of my phone. (I never forget my phone) Good luck!!
  20. I am so excited that I just had to share!!! I am out of the 300s and into the 200s!!! I am 8 weeks post of, and know that I have a long way to go, but I am so proud of all that I have accomplished so far. I go to see my surgeon tomorrow. I was wondering if I would get a fill, but I am staying satisfied for 4 hours after each meal. I feel like what I am doing now is working, so I don't want to mess with success. The doctor knows what is best, so I will follow his suggestions. Thanks for letting me toot my own horn for a few minutes!!! You all are so inspirational to me and always make me feel like part of a community. I lurk more than post, but this board is truly one of the main reasons I am doing so well.

    Sleeve or band?

Just keep doing research on both. I was torn between which to have, but eventually decided on the band. When you have your consult, have a list of questions/concerns prepared to discuss with the doctor. That is what I did. Think about the pros and cons of each with your current lifestyle. What are your long term goals and what are your expectations short and long term from the surgery. Good luck!!

    Starting to feel its working!

    That's great!!
  23. Congratulations!!! Stick to the doctor's orders. I would also recommend trying to get some walking in every day. It was very helpful with my recovery. If you are exercising pre-op, it makes it that much easier to do it post-op. God luck!!
  24. Just found this thread...a bit too late. I hope you do something again soon. I would love to meet all of the amazing people on this board!!
