Size 9. Awesome.

I'm down 95 lbs since surgery. 18 lbs until I'm below 200. So from my last post on this thread 9lbs in the last month.

It's great to hear how well my fellow class of May 2014 is doing.

I hit the 100 pounds lost mark last week and have gone from size 26/28 dresses and size 18 pants to size 12 dresses and size 10 pants. I am more than thrilled. But I know the harder part is still to come -- reaching goal and then maintaining it. My greatest fear is that I will regain, just as I always have in the past.

Down more than enough and I'm seeing how one can want more. At first I wanted to be a size 8-10 (that looks good on me with my height), I went down to a size 6 and smalls. I'll be fine if I stay here. It's a little more boney than I anticipated.

I have trouble eating many things so maintaining rather than losing is an effort. But I don't want to look older and too much loss can do that to me. I lose and gain in the face the quickest.

So, my focus is on foods that work and those that don't. I keep a list. chicken is fine for me but becoming so boring. Carbs and beef cause pain. I can do sashimi rolls, but if there is tobiko (fish eggs), it gets ugly. So, it's random. Cheeses work. chicken and cheese get old so I'm playing around w/ recipes. :)

@storytotell What about pork? Lamb? Yesterday I had chicken thigh, which is not my usual cut for chicken. I wrapped it in prosciutto ham and added a garlic butter mixture along with salt and pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. Then I baked for 30 minutes. So maybe dig deep for different recipes?

I'm at the same place. I'm hovering around 70 pounds lost gone from a 24/26 pants to an 16/18. Really happy with my weight loss but have "stalled" in the 220's for awhile. I'm not discouraged at the stall it's so fun feeling like I have control and I love eating little bits of food. I have been so lucky - I can eat anything - but that can be a curse too. It will be so interesting to see what happens in the next months. Lots of things to be happy about - no seat belt extenders when I travel, buying clothiers in the regular department, and great "skinny" sex.

I was thrilled to see a weight below 140 (139.8 but that counts) for the first time in 15 years. I may have gone up a bit from that due to holiday eating, but I can see my goal weight as a near possibility. I am so thankful that my body is cooperating with me and releasing the fat relatively steadily.

No complaints. Finished my 6 month check up with flying colors. All blood tests in the noraml range. The bad numbers fell off the cliff on the charts. Down 104 lbs. 8 in the last month. 40 lbs to go. Should be a breeze to meet in the next 6 months.

Hey fellow May sleevers! Its been a very long time since I've posted anything but just wanted to see if anyone else at 7 months out are considered malnutritioned. At my 6 month check up everything was fine accept my malnutrition number was at a 15 and normal is 16 - ? I can't recall the range right now and what the test was called, but I'm barely under it, and my B1 is low. I'm supposed to be rechecked in 2 more weeks so working on getting those numbers up. Anyone else having any issues? I'm only 8 pounds from goal. I'm pretty happy where I'm at and I'm sure it will take months to get this last 8 off, but hell, haven't been this close to goal weight in over 15 years so no complaints from me:) Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your new figure:) May this New Year be the best year ever!!

Yes. I'm actually having a pretty difficult time. Let me first say that I am speaking of my experience only. I'm now underweight and cannot eat much. There's no room. I eat less now than I did those first few months. I missed a doc appointment one month (my fault) and I got out of the habit of going about two months ago. I did have the blood work completed and the results were a little wacky. I'm sad about my situation and will be back at the doc's soon. I know people who have had it done and they eat regularly and maintain a healthy weight. I may be an unlikely story...it's important to know all sides. I used to crave and love carbs so I thought there was no way I'd be an underweight unlikely story. I was more worried that it wouldn't work.

Good to hear from all the May sleevers. Weight loss has slowed "a lot!" Im sure it's my fault as I have ebb having alcohol regularly. I still work out at least 3x a week, avoid carbs, and NO soda. But, I know that my weight loss would be better if I would just stay on track. Unfortunately, I am still a regular Watson with a life that involves not being on a diet 24/7. Still working at it though, SW 205, CW 153....

I love hearing about my fellow May 2014 sleevers but I'm sorry that you are having serious issues, @storytotell. I hope your doctor will be able to help you manage your nutritional challenges.

My news is very positive. I made my surgeon's goal at almost exactly 7 months out. Since then, I have continued to lose at an even faster pace. At 128 lbs., I'm now closing in on my personal goal of 125. My real challenge now is going to be maintaining my weight loss.

I haven't had my next appointment with my surgeon, but my labs from November were all excellent so I'm hoping that will continue.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
