Well, i had my date for 6/24 and received a call from the Drs. Office that the girl responsible had dropped the ball and had not submitted my paperwork for the final authorization from insurance. She has had everything for since the 11th. The office says it takes 5 days to get final authorization. So I am in a hold pattern.

Is this a sign i should not do surgery? I am so totally peeved at the incompetence of this woman. To top it off she has an attitude and just wants to make excuses for her incompetence.

At this point i do not know what to do, wait until Monday, pick a new date or just cancel the whole thing.

Can you confirm when it was actually submitted? If it was today you may want to see if you can move it back towards the end of the week. And don't let someone else's issue derail you from this opportunity! Stay committed because it is soooo worth it!

I get that you are frustrated but please don't take this person's lack of competence as a "sign." If you are looking for signs, it seems to me the more obvious sign is that you are obese and weight loss surgery is the most effective known tool to fight obesity (sorry if that sounds harsh -- we have all been there!). Or maybe her delay is a "sign" that if you chose to do surgery on your initial date, you would have been killed while driving to the hospital and therefore postponing a few days saved your life.

Seriously, the lack of diligence is what it is, and nothing else. If you aren't ready for surgery, it's okay to admit that and cancel or postpone for your own reasons. If you are ready for surgery, you won't let this derail you, it will just make you more determined. You can also get some frustration out by writing a letter to your surgeon explaining how unhappy you are with the situation!

That sounds familiar - my first doctor had an incompetent assistant that was even willing to lie to not account for her mistakes. I dropped the doc, with an explanation why and after a lackluster reply from the doc (only after the poor reply) I posted it to every legitimate feedback site I could find, and got a new doctor.

Now - I did not work this through an insurance company in the traditional way, so it may be more difficult for you to do this.

Don't panic, I don't think the Universe is trying to tell you anything - but it may be prudent to take a moment and get some solid feedback about patients care under this doc - discard the worst feedback and the best - look for feedback on how they were assisted when something went wrong, not that things went great and nothing went wrong.

Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
