Hi everyone. I am post op gastric bypass. Had my first pre-op visit today and I am moving onto phase 2. Just wanted to get some ideas of what you tried in phase 2. Thanks!

Tomato Soup is to die for! For me, at least. I am having a hard time choking down the chocolate shakes. But the Tomato Soup is so good.

The book my surgeon gave me suggests cream Soups with non-fat or 1% milk

Protein supplement drinks

Thinned hot Cereal, like cream of wheat (can't wait to have this for Breakfast tomorrow)

Thinned mashed potatoes

Thinned sugar free plain yogurt, plain non-fat yogurt.

Good luck!

Jennifer

I ate pureed tuna or canned chicken mixed with a bit of light Miracle Whip, scrambled eggs, Greek Yogurt. I also had thin mashed potatoes and some cream Soups. This phase goes quickly, and you really are not eating much at all. Don't get too much.

Thanks for the suggestions! I started with cottage cheese today. A little nervous about trying stuff tho since I'm not sure how my body will react to it now.

It is important to go slow. No more than one or two new foods a day for the first couple weeks. If you do have a reaction you want to be able to know exactly what caused it. If you do react, know that later that same food might be just fine. Your new pouch is going to be most sensitive while it is healing.

Ok - I looked for Tomato Soup today but the sugar content was crazy high! I did pick up cream of chicken which was pretty. Having a hard time with the Protein too.

You can always get some unflavored Protein mix to put in with anything you eat. Scrambled eggs, Soups, cottage cheese, etc. This was recommended by my nutritionist. Or if you are having sugar free pudding you can always add a vanilla Protein Powder.< /p>

I had my RNY gastric June 4th. I started my liquid diet two weeks prior. From the start until now I have lost 21 lbs. I only two weeks put from surgery and I have been on a plateau all week. Does this seem normal?

hey consuela11

I actually gained 3 lbs on week 2. It sounds like you are weighing yourself every day. I would suggest trying to limit your weigh in to 1 time each week. Be patient the weight will come off. Keep up the process provided by your MD and nut.

Thanks Radale. I am weighing myself every day. It is hard not to. How long did it take you to start losing again and did you do anything different?

I had surgery June 5 and have lost 22 pounds. I unfortunately do the same by checking my weight every day. It's hard not to! I know not to expect large results all the time but it would be nice if it happened that way.

I've lost a pound since Monday. I keep telling myself it's because I'm eating some foods now and not straight liquid. Honestly, I am forcing myself to eat 3 very small meals. I still don't feel hungry at all. Tho when I am watching Tv I think "if I hadn't had the surgery I would probably be snacking on something right now. "

That is exactly what I am doing. I guess our bodies are storing the calories for energy. I have been trying to step up my exercising some but my energy level is not where it should be yet. My dr started me on soft foods this week also. I really have not had much though because I am not hungry either.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
