Yes, Are you ok? Is the question I was asked today. My coworker instead of saying how good I look I was asked was I sick, and am I ok. Yes im ok I lost 65lbs of unhealthy weight. Oh and the kicker is this question. "Why are you losing weight?". Um because im over weight genius. Its crazy that world looks down on obesity but when a ocer weight person starts to take care of the weight problem, it bothers the world. Fat guy its a salad then he is on a diet, skinny guy eats same salad and eveyone says how good the salad looks.

Thanks for letting me vent a little

I am still over 270 lbs and I've had a handful of people recently remark about my weight and ask me why I've finally decided to lose weight (I'm mid 30s). Wow, people are rude!!!!

I'm so tired of people thinking I'm sick and frail because I lost weight!!! Or saying, "yeah, but how do you FEEL??" ... Expecting me to say terrible???

I feel empowered, awesome, healthy, happy, proud

I'm not sickly: at 128 lbs, I'm fit. I have muscle. I lift. I run. I'm flexible. (Ok, maybe still technically "overweight".... All the more reason I'm not sick & frail!!!)

I like this post. I told people about my surgery (5 days post-op) because I'm afraid they will think I have cancer or am on drugs when the weight loss actually starts to be visible - even though I have never tried any sort of drug.

The people who I have told (family, friends and co-workers) have all known me most of my life so I don't want anyone to worry. At the same time, I expect to get some of those comments from others and I'm not sure how I'll answer.

We should have a clever responses thread to give people ideas of ways to respond to those. If someone says something about why did I finally decide to loose weight I would have to respond strongly!

I get the are you sick/ do you have cancer comments all the time. Even after explaining how I lost weight (I tell most everyone I had surgery) they all want to make sure I feel OK. Once I reassure them I feel fabulous they all want to know more details about the experience and a few have even wanted my surgeons contact info to pass on to someone. They all congratulate me and recognize that even with surgery it is a lot of work and a big commitment on my part. ONE person mentioned this being the easy way out, but she was immediately chastised by everyone else in the room for being ignorant. I've never had to defend my decision.

It's funny how different my feedback has been from so many others on here. I read about unsupportive friends and family and negative comments from coworkers. I have had none of that. Everyone from close friends, family members to my doctors to casual acquaintances and clients have been nothing but positive. I haven't had to hide my surgery or lie about my weight loss like a dirty secret. I guess good ol' redneck, small town, Republican eastern Idaho is a good place to live. We have better things to do than judge other people or put them down to make us feel better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
