Coochie what??

Super super short shorts. Ones that outline ur "lady parts". Not sure they look good on anyone but those under 30 have a demand for them, I guess. They sell them everywhere. They will never look good on me. Even if they did, I'd feel too uncomfortable to wear them in public...

Oops, had I continued reading, I would realized coochie cutters were already explained. And even a photo. Nice. Luv "The People of Walmart"

I love this thread! And yes, I'm a Goodwill and Value Village shopper too. Great prices if you can find anything that fits and it's already worn out in my neck of the woods. The other day I found a couple things that'll work for an upcoming camping trip, now that some of my things are too big. (Yay!) Since i'm only a month out, I still feel like I'd kill to shop "regular people" stores, but I know it's coming soon. Still, Old Navy is a distant memory from shopping with my kids when they were little....some twent-ish years ago. Not sure at over 50 it'll have my style, but lord knows I'll have fun looking once I can shop around and NOT in plus shops. And I have to say, I'm with ziggypbang in LOVING my Wacoal bras--I bought a cheapie at Target the other day to see me through until I could deal with paying more for a good one, and it's clearly not cut to fit my body type nor built for these hefty girls!

I can't remember what it felt like to shop for something and think I looked really pretty - and not just settle for "good enough to pass for put together at my size". Sigh - it's coming!

When I was fat I felt nothing looked good on me, so just settled for what looked the most respectable. There were also a limited number of places that sold things for my size. I never bought a fashion magazine because.... Really what was the point! Clothes shopping was to be endured, not enjoyed. Bras were basically boring. All underwear was uncomfortable! Then I got to a size 14 and I could not imagine ever getting any smaller than that, even as a teen I was about a size 14.. I was thrilled everything looked quite good on me. A huge number of shops opened up to me and it took me ages to decide which of any number of clothing items to purchase. I did buy some more expensive items, then dropped to a size 12. So I found a really good clothing alteration place and had a few things made smaller. I started buying Vogue magazine to find out what was really in fashion, and In Style magazine to find out what fashionable items were more affordable and where to get them. Now I am a size 8 - 10. Trying to learn how to maintain this weight and really learning about my shape and what does and does not suit me. I used to be a pear shape. I have no idea what shape I would be called now apart from "saggy". Sadly Coochie shorts have never, and will never, suit me, maybe the poor girl in the photo just wanted to feel sexy?

My clothing sizes are in Australian, I am 10 months out from surgery and have lost just over 100 lbs, I am 5'6" and have just turned 60.

If someone had given me a little glimpse into what would be in style when I got down to a decent size, I swear I would've just eaten myself into oblivion instead of doing all of this work! Seriously, with the one piece jumpsuits, and the half tops and all of the other ridiculous shit I just saw while attempting to find clothes that fit me. It's all garbage. I was so excited to go shopping, I have awesome plans, a babysitter--and yoga pants. Lovely.

Try out some thrift stores. I like goodwill

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
