You are not alone, we've all been there (or are there), It's an emotional journey, I'm not going to lie but it's worth it in the end**

**at least to me it is, I'm only a week out from my surgery but I'm already looking slimmer in my face and feeling better.

I was scheduled for lap band surgery in January but my son became ill and was hospitalized for a bit and I wasn't able to keep the surgery date. Some time has passed and he is better and I decided to change my surgery to the sleeve and I go tomorrow to switch and schedule surgery. I'm just scared that something will happen to me during surgery and I won't wake up and be here for my son. Its driving me up a wall

Being scared is normal. You will all do great. This surgery is minimally invasive and if you understand how to eat and have good support after your surgery you will be fine. I am four weeks out and have lost 40 lbs total. 20 in the pre op phase and 20 since surgery. I would do this all over again on a minute. Just wish I had it done sooner. Stay calm and stay focused on the result of all your prep work. Keep us posted.

Well I went today and switched my surgery from band to sleeve. I talked to the doctor about my concerns and fears and he did a awesome job at making me feel better. Now I'm all ready and scheduled for surgery on 6/26!

Anytime you are put to sleep is a time to be concerned. What I can tell you is that the surgery and recovery from the sleeving (and hernia repairs) was absolutely 10 times easier than my husband and I expected. We had no pain, no nausea, no problem. Since October I have lost 60 lbs, he has lost 90 lbs. Life has changed drastically, with very little effort. Blessings, Linda

Also not to offend anyone but I am also looking for someone near my age who would be willing to talk? It's always nice to speak to someone close in age who is going through the same things as you!

Have you checked out the Forum here on Bariatric Pal that is Age-Specific (separate forums for those in their twenties, thirties, forties, etc)?

As you have read you are definitely not alone! If you didn't have these emotions I would wonder why! It is a huge decision to make and a life altering surgery. With that said I was so positive that it was the right decision for me and still had all of the same fears and questions you are going through. It definitely was the right thing for me to do and I have never looked back! It has completely changed my life and you will also!! Good luck with your journey!! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
