Surgery June 11

Recommended Posts

June 11 here. Started pre-op diet of 4-5 shakes/day and light dinner high in Protein. I am working hard to drink the shake first thing in the morning. I'm using HMR-70 which is pretty yummy but it's hard to eat/drink when you're not hungry. It seems to me that eating will soon become my JOB and food will change from something of pleasure to something of need and nutrition. Trying to stay away from Pinterest due to all the great pictures of food that make me want to cook and bake. lol There are some good bariatric boards at Pinterest, though. Best wishes to all my fellow June sleevers out there!

Lyndy,

Thanks! You are so close! I'm June 2nd. I'm also practicing small bites drink slowly. what a change this is. Have you gone to any of your local support classes or pre op classes yet?

Just by practicing and eating well..boom I've lost another 5 pounds pre op. I've noticed I'm not morning food. I like the healthier choices. I feel better. What has happened to me. Is this really me? If it is I like it!

So great that your also in June. Keep me posted.

Jenn

Wow Jenn...2 more days to the beginning of the NEW YOU! I'll be waiting to hear all about it. Are you excited? After 2 days of mostly liquids, I awakened today feeling much better. I actually feel like I might be coming alive again. Yesterday I tried a Protein shake that I got at costco. It's Premier Protein with a whopping 30 grams of Protein for only 160 calories. It compares quite favorably to the HMR-70 that my weight loss center uses but was much less expensive. I chose vanilla and poured it into the blender, added about 5 ice cubes, and a big shake of cinnamon. Loved it!

I think I really ought to take my "before" pictures and do some measurements today. Have you done that?

Lynn

Lynn,

I've been excited for quite a while. Never thought I would be here. Everything is coming together nicely.

I'm having a bbq send off by my family Saturday, Having a small amount of salmon and some steamed veggies. bringing lots of water! (my cousin's patio is hot hot hot) Can't thank my family enough. I plan on doing my pre op pictures there and my measurements tonight.

Getting my Items together for my surgery today.

what do you plan on taking to the hospital?

Well, Jenn, I anticipate being in the hospital overnight. They said one day but I don't know if they count the day of surgery. So maybe it'll be 2 nights. Pain relief will be a PCA pump the first day. I've never had dilaudid...guess I've never had much pain...so I might be a bit wiped out. Will bring my cell phone and lap top, some slippers, lip balm and lotion...and oh, some wax earplugs because I remember how much I wanted them at my last hospital stay. Maybe an eye mask, too. lol I'm an RN so I know they don't like to keep things too quiet in a hospital and I don't want to be grumpy. ;)

This week I'm going to work on getting more exercise in. I honestly don't love exercise. Maybe I'll love it more when it's easier but I could at least do more dog walking. 10,000 steps isn't easy unless I'm at work and I'm not right now. The dog will appreciate it. I am tired of being tired. I've been gaining steadily for 7 years now and it's time for it to be done.

Enjoy your weekend and your last solid food for a little while. It'll be a wonderful send off! I'll be thinking about you and saying a few prayers on Monday. Woo hoo!!!

Lynn

Hi Lyndy,

I am the 12th. The day after you. Let’s be buddies. I will send you an invite. I am on a 40 gram or less carb diet to decrease my liver for surgery. I am so excited, but nervous. I have been wanting this for so long. How about you?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
