Granny:

I would love to go to a meeting. The only support meetings I was aware of, was in Havelock which is too far for me to drive. And I feel I really need that extra support. I had a terrible first week, sick and threwing up all the time. Finally they told me to go the hospital to be evaluated for dehyration, I got an IV and now I am fine since this Monday. The liquids, meds, mushies, everything is staying down. Last week I wont have done this again, this week, is so different:biggrin2:. I lost 15 lbs in a week my general MD said. Please contact me and let me know when the meetings are scheduled. My email is vmallard@ec.rr.com

I was so sick this was the first day I felt like even looking at the forum.

MY SURGERY WAS GREAT! I had my banding TODAY and I am sitting here AT HOME feeling good with just a little cramping, better than PMS. My surgeon in Asheville, NC is awesome. I have one small puncture and one 2 1/2 inch incision for the port. THAT IS ALL! This is some thing new, I think. I came home 7 hours after arriving at St. Joseph's Hospital, and then had a 2 hour ride which I spent napping. (My husband was driving!) I am looking forward to a speedy recovery and a whole new life!

Hope all continues to be easy. Mine was a piece of cake, and I am so thankful for that. Keep us all posted, we do care.

Your weight loss is amazing, Grammylou! I hope I will do as well as you have. Today is the day after my banding, and I am back doing housework and feeling great with just a little sting in my incision - which turned out to be 1 1/2 inches long, not 2 1/2 as I said yesterday. I'm on the way!

Hi NC Banders. I am not banded yet. I have been jumping through the insurance hoops for 8 months and have a couple steps left. I am really getting nervous now because everyone keeps telling me horror stories from people they know. Why can't I hear a good story? Can someone email me or answer me on which band you have and tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of it. I am 5'2 and weigh 242 and I am 51. I am as round as I am tall and am tired of it. Hoping to hear from someone. :wink2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
