20 lbs lost 4 days post-op!?!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Wednesday morning.

I weighed myself on my home scale: 437

I have since weighed myself the last two days I have been home, both times dropping significantly.

I am now 417. It is only 4 days post-op. That's 20 lbs down!?

Has this happened to anyone? I'm not getting exciting or my hopes up yet...more in shock than anything.

Wow ... that's amazing! I would not look that gift horse in the mouth, take it as it comes (off) and just do what you are supposed to do!

My surgery was on April 16th. I was 226 at the time of surgery and the next day dropped 11.4 pounds. I'm convinced the part of the stomach they removed was huge! I've never lost that much again. The following week was under 2 pounds and the other weeks have been around 3 pounds. I haven't had a stall yet! Everyone's weekly weight loss will vary. The more excessive weight you have to loose, your weekly weight loss will be higher.

My weight loss has been weird. I weight 297 in January at my first doctor visit. In April I saw my surgeon again and weighed 294. I started my pre-op diet May 1st & got down to 284 the day of surgery. After 3 days in the hospital I weighed myself when I got home and was back up to 294. Imagine my shock! I lost that 10 lbs in about 2 days. I assume part of the issue was the gas they fill you up with for the surgery. I am now 2 weeks post-op & I'm down to 270. Slow going but worth it. I am on oxygen so walking around outside is an issue. I started walking around my apartment for exercise. Tomorrow I see my surgeon for my 1st post-op visit. Hopefully I can put soft foods in my diet. The Protein Shakes are about to do me in. I'm going to get some Protein that is unflavored. This should help my protein intake. I'm glad I had this done. I don't think I will ever regret it. The crazy thing is I don't even miss eating chocolate or bread.< /p>

I am 12 days postop and only lost 10lbs but can totally see inches shrinking away. I'm a little envious of those of u lucky ones who have lost much more than me in this time:( but I promise myself I'm going to stay happy thru my journey and stay grateful to God. Congratulations to everyone on here!!! Much love to all :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
