Will i be able to get a fill even with weight loss?

Recommended Posts

So I scheduled a fill for Friday but I have lost a decent amount of weight since my last appt. I don't feel like my restriction is where it needs to be though. I have lost the weight because I have been dieting. I'm just wondering if anyone's doctor has ever told them "no" to a fill because their weight loss seems to be successful

I was worried about the same thing!! But they were more focused on my hunger level and what/how much I was eating than how much weight I had lost. Just stress to them that you feel no restriction and could eat way more than you should be able to, you just don't because you're careful. I think you'll be able to get your fill :)

I've been able to get fills with 10lbs of weight loss in either 4 or 6 weeks (can't remember). They have not denied me a fill yet when I've asked for it...

They will ask (at least mine does):

How often do you get stuck/vomit/slime?

How much are you eating per meal (oz)?

How often do you eat / feel hungry?

They use that and ask me if I want another fill to gauge if they should do a fill.

You should determine if you're getting stuck - is it you (I.e. Not chewing enough / eating wrong food) or is the band too tight.

Qty at each meal - my surgeon likes between 4-6 oz. I was able to eat more before feeling full or I'd have to stop myself (dieting).

Often - my surgeons goal is for us to get to 4+ hrs between meals.

As usual, it may vary per surgeon. Hope this helps.

I just got a fill today -- was in the green zone but two weeks ago noticed increase in hunger and capacity. Quite nibbly, thinking about food more and feeling more restrictive, i.e. dieter mentality. Those are my signals that I need a fill. My surgeon does very small fills and we are on the same page with that. I really worry about getting too tight so he knows I'm not a risk for over-filling. I would never put up with sliming, throwing up, etc. I eat real food when I'm hungry, stop when I'm satisfied. The band is there to help achieve satiety so we can make good choices. Love that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
