I still cannot work out. I live in a desert as well, every time I go out during the day I'm sweating and panting like a dog. It's horrid. But I know it would be better if I could get my damn Protein in!!! (excuse my French) It's been the biggest struggle for me. Today I mixed my unflavored Protein Powder into cranberry juice (sugar free, light, etc.) and it tasted good but I could smell the protein powder. It literally smells like baby formula. It's so disgusting. I'm still choking it down but so far no nausea, just fullness. COME ON POUCH I NEED MY PROTEIN!!!

Sigh. I hope I'm not the only one dealing with these issues.

Nope. You're not alone. I'm struggling to get the protein in, too. I hate that I have rubs Vitamin taste in my mouth all the time. I have a plethora of RTD shakes that are the same flavor and I'm bored. I bought some unflavored protein powder but I could smell it too -- it grossed me out! I think it may be better to mix with food.

Also if you don't like the flavor GNC allows you to exchange within 30 days.

Going to GNC today.

@@allielee - I actually managed to get 26g in less than 8oz of cranberry juice and it's taken me about an hour so far to get it down.... just to give you an example of what it's like. I ordered those whey Protein Shots, hoping for the best.

Hello MAY members, so I had my Bypass May 19th. So far okay could be worse! I'm already tired of the flavored Protein Shakes so I just got the unflavored kind from GNC. I got approved from my insurance for per made shakes. So I'm waiting for them now. Hopefully I have a better time with them! I have no pain except when I get up in the morning, I'm a bit sore. I'm kinda scared cuz I still can't identify when I'm full or even when I'm hungry! I just eat cuz I have to but not much. Getting my Protein in is very hard for me! The Water though is not a problem especially very cold, I love it!!! Exercising I was told to start by just walking 15mins then start adding to that time slowly! We got to stay positive!!! :-)

The kind I got are the amplified wheybiloc extreme 60 from GNC 280 calories for 3 scoops which is 60 grams of Protein, 7 grams carbs, 2 gram sugar. I know 280 seems a lot but that's 60!!! Grams of yummy protein lol banana cream is my favorite!! I do mix it with other crystal light flavors too.

It's still hard for me to gauge hunger/fullness. I feel like whenever I see someone eat, I am hungry. But I know I'm not. I just drink water. I agree cold water is the best and easiest to take in. I can now take bigger drinks of water. (Surgery was 5/21)

Hi guys... I've talked to a few of you on the "before" board but I guess it's time to move to "after." RNY was May 20th. Everything went well and I've been feeling great... until yesterday. I almost fell from feeling faint/weak while making a short walk to the kitchen yesterday afternoon. I went to my bed and didn't do much moving around after that. My legs felt like Jello every time I got up. I didn't sleep at ALL last night. My legs felt restless and I had a lot on my mind. Around 6:00 I got up to take a shower and my legs kept trying to give out on me. I noticed all the veins in my hands are showing, and they look very purple. It's weird. I'm back in bed and crying because I feel weak and miserable and don't know why. Anyone go through anything similar? I'm freaking out a little bit.

Are you dehydrated?

Well I finally had that chat with nurse practitioner about that cramping and gas pain every time I eat and drink. She advanced my diet to soft foods early and took me off the colace/stool softeners. Took two gas-x and feel tons better. Finally back to sleeping in my bed. Good news I weighed myself and I've lost ten lbs in a week since surgery, 28 lbs total now lost. Pretty proud and it's showing. Now my other health issues are getting better too. Hopefully we keep this up. Have a good day!

Hi May buddies!!! We made to the other side of the losers bench. Congratulations.

My surgery was May 5 and I came home yesterday. I still have quite a bit of gas inside, but that's making it's out and I'm pretty sore where the incisions are.

My question is....is anyone exhausted? I seem to be able to stay a wake for maybe an hour and then I have to lie down. It's not giving me a whole lotta time to get all my food, Water and Vitamins in. Any suggesstions?

Hi there! I am in the same boat! I am just so exhausted. I feel like a toddler that needs a break for nap time. My doc said it was expected to be tired the first 3 mths. With that being said I try to keep my Protein intake up and started with my B12 injs immediately after my post op f/u. Good luck!

That's what I'm afraid of.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I had that issue with gas and bad cramping every time I ate or drank liquids/fill liquids. My doctor changed my diet and I feel better with that and taking gas x. However I still have issues with drinking but just take small sips at room temp every 5-10 minutes. They stopped stool medicines because things were to loose too frequently. Hopefully this eases up. They also can tell dehydration by the color of urine. If it's colorful to dark you are getting dehydrated but from clear to pale yellow you may be ok.

Now I've been up walking more and find I'm thirstier. So I'm just drinking straight Water to keep things hydrated. I too have to take frequent breaks. I'm very tired after all that exercise.

Today I get my stitches out!! Woohoo! Man I can hardly wait. The top incision is right on my bra line and the stitches keep being pulled. I know most don't have stitches but because of my Tummy Tuck my skin was to tight to use glue or internal stitches. So that means tonight I get to go in my hot tub! Woohoo! I have been stalled in weight loss for a couple days. Still down 20 since surgery date 5/21 so I figure my body must think I'm dying and trying to hold on to everything lol. I keep running to the bathroom hoping today is the day I drop some more lol. It is crazy how obsessed I have become with my scale. I hate the f*cker yet I can't stay away from it. Well I hope everyone has a fabulous day! I am waiting inpatiently for my daughter to call she is due with our first grand baby!! It's a girl and her name is Harper Claire. I can hardly wait to hold her! I hope everyone has a great day and those of you who are still hurting I pray today is a pain free day!

Thanks ladies! Just got my stitches out and damn that hurt!! 10 days was way to long. My skin had grown over them. Eek. Needless to say I said a few curse words lol but they are out. Now we are on the hour and a half ride home. My doc gave me a ton of free stuff to take home too. Lots of new Protein Shakes and Vitamins to try. I don't have to go back for 6 weeks woohoo! Also they told me I can eat like a normal person again haha no more puréed food for this chick! Still no baby but at her appt she was 1 cm dialated and thinned out so any time now!!! Yipeeee!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to. And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed. I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
