Feeling sorry for myself

Recommended Posts

Ok start out I wave sleeved 3 months ago and the first 7 weeks were great. I had some pain for the first week but it was controllable. I had no problems advancing my diet as directed. I felt great. Then 5 weeks ago I started with my first bout of nausea and vomiting. Lost a couple of days of work. Then it happened again. And again. I am now on my fourth time of this happening. This time I ended up in the ER for dehydration. I made appoint of going to the hospital that I had my surgery at and the ER Dr had one of the surgeons come and examine me. They didn't find anything, but sent me home with zofran (life and sanity saver). I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. I am just feeling sorry for myself because i wanted this to be healthier and at the moment i am worse off than before the surgery. I am confident that things are going to get better. I have always been a glass half full kind of person, but feeling like crap all of the time and the fear of loosing my job because of this is getting me down.

I am sorry to hear this. This is a setback, but hopefully the Zofran will help.

So sorry...hope things get better...I'm sure they will.

Don't you qualify for FMLA at work? You should check in to it to protect yourself.

Good luck...

Get some G2 Gatorade and drink it every day if you are having a problem with dehydration. This should help! :)

Keep us posted on how you are doing. I am almost exactly where you are post op and just started vomiting this week, except mine is preceded by diarrhea and cramping. The vomiting feels like it is caused by the diarrhea as I have no nausea, just vomiting spasms. Sometimes it is just dry heaves. Other times, small pieces if undigested food comes up. When the diarrhea is over, so is the vomiting. I am following the Protein first rule, then vegetable type carbs and avoiding all sugars....not sure if this all makes sense.....I think if this does not resolve in the next day or two, I will call my surgeon. Otherwise, I have had no problems except fatigue. I am 12 weeks postop, down 35 pounds from 226, with 40 more to goal.

Thanks to all that have replied. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he believes that it is an intolerance to the Protein Shakes combined with not being able to drink while at work. I am an RN so I am lucky if I get on bottle of Water in let alone anything else. We are not allowed to have any drinks on the floor and the break room is at the other end of the hall, so that is not an option most times. I am going yo hydrate as much as possible on my days off, hoping that will offset my work days. My Dr made another appointment for next week just to see how I am doing. So this weekend is drink, drink, drink.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
