Can u still PB with the Seeve?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, I was eating a small piece of salmon at a restaurant with my family. I was enjoying their company & didn't chew a piece well enough before swallowing. Suddenly I had that all too familiar feeling of being stuck, like when I was banded. It hurt really bad. I excused myself and made it to restroom just in time before it came up. I was fine. Anyone former LapBander have this happen?

Hi Kajun,

Yes I have had this happen to me, it was very painful. I just felt the need to throw it up - I hadnt thrown up since I had the band removed (6 months prior to sleeve, Nov '13). As we know with banding a 'PB' comes up without having to do much. But man, it was so difficult to bring back up and felt more like a vomit then anything else. It hurt, so I want to avoid that now and try not to let my head hunger get bigger than my new little stomach hunger.... good luck!

You have to treat this as a sleever would now. And this is very common. A week ago I was all worked up over something and did not chew my food as much as I should have. The same thing happened to me but I could not throw it up It just laid there until I could drink some Water and it worked its way down.. We will always have the clear and unmistakable signs that we did something wrong...Hope the Salmon was good...I love fish myself now! :)

I'm not a former bander but this happens to me here and there for no reason I can ascertain. Ugh.

Exactly. I didn't hafta do anyting to bring food back up with my band - just bend over and up it came. Now, if I eat too much/too fast, it takes much work, sweat, and dissapointment trying to get it out. I've vomited maybe 3x in the past 10 mths becuz it's so much harder. I think I may miss this a little (sounds crazy, I know) but I knew that if I ate 1 bite too much, I could get it back out quickly. Now it's almost impossible. Just hafta ride it out.

Good luck!

I came down with a stomach bug friday night, I thought it was a reaction to taking my Vitamins on an empty stomach, I just wasn't hungry so I skipped dinner. I was up dry heaving all night. I would have been in panic mode with my band, for fear of slipping. I was calm and took my zofran and laid down. It passed but holy moly was I hurting when the dry heaves started. I haven't really had any vomiting issues since surgery. I've had a bite too much and felt really full but this was intense. I know now it was a stomach bug because my poor daughter has it today. :( Glad it was only like a 12 hour thing, and she should feel better quickly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
