Hello:

First, congratulations! Second, any regrets? Any issues you want to share with someone who's considering bypass? What Vitamins and/or supplements do you take? Do you, or did you have #2 issues in the bathroom postop? Do you feel hungry much?

Thanks for your time answering my questions.

Sue

Congrats on your huge accomplishment! I am meeting with my surgeon for the first time on May 27th and I am super excited. Do you have any advice that I can take along with me? I am 32 yrs old and 330lbs, I am sure that I have a long road ahead of me, but well worth it!

Absolutely no regrets. Little bit of my past : 29 years old it was found my liver in bwginning ti fail due to NAFLD. I lived in denile for a few months. I weighed 304 and though I was plus sized I never felt I was "morbidly obese" as a doc puts it. I was a very confident person in my large body. I wore a tight 24. Going into this I was scared I would not be as confident of a person once I lost weight.. sounds weird I know. At the very beginning of my journey... my doc has a program you have to go thru. A visit with a psychiatrist is a must. At that visit she told me I was addicted to food and if I didnt treat that addiction I would never succeed at this surgery. At the time I thought she was crazy. I have learned she was dead on. The question isnt "do you get hungry? " the question should be "do you still want food like ypu used to?" Sadly the answer is YES. For me, its ha4d to get my brain off of food. Yes the more you eat clean you crave clean foods, but bad habits can shine thru... its a daily struggle to keep bad food out of me. Thats one thing I wish soneone would have told me before. All I ever heard was "ahh ur not going to want that food" thats BULL! BUT with all that side... I know my liver is at a healthy state... I am 100% more of a mother than I was a year ago... and THAT I WOULD NEVER TRADE!!

In the begining I had strictures... I had to be stetched 4 times. Simple procedure... just know thay vomiting is not normal... get see about it!! At about 4 months out my troubles went away and its been smooth sailing. I SUCK at my Vitamin intake... I was hospitalized at my 1 year anniversary due to beibg deficient of B1, B12, vit d and Calcium. I am honest and I struggle with them. They make me physically ill to take them but after months of not taking them they land me in the hospital. I still may only get them in a few tomes a week at most. I also struggle with fluids... I only drink Water but I struggle with get what I need daily. But not ao bad that ive been dehydrated.

I had gastric bypass... bathroom immediately after was like the runs for the first few months for me. Now days I am lucky if I go once a week... but thats probably due to my high Protein diet and low fluids.

Its going to be well worth it! I was 304 5'2 in a tight 24 size pants. I am now in a very loose size 8, 6 is better but I feel my skin issues show in a six more than an 8. Try hard to break any old habits and you will get far! I know its the one thing that has helped me in my journey!!

I am really set on doing this before the summer is over so that I have some time off of work with my son home. I am crossing my fingers that all goes smoothly!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
