My surgery went well today. It was at 9:30am, but didn't get discharged until 5:30pm, but that's becausee the anesthesia wasn't letting my bladder release, so we had to wait til nature took its course. Overall, Dr Nicholson and his staff were superb. They are the epitome of professionalism and high levels of communication.

My challenges so far have been bloating and some medium level of pain, but nothing I can't handle. I did just take some hydrocodeine to ease some of the pain.

I felt much better walking around than when I was sitting. I could not stay awake almost all day when I was sitting.

How did y'all's surgeries go?

I did beautifully!! My surgery was at 1pm yesterday. Come through like a champ, haven't had much pain nor to much gas. On of the incision sights is pretty sore. Walking has helped just trying to get fluids down :) So excited to start this wonderful journey!! The hard part is over only looking forward!! How is everyone else doing?

Hey everyone, my surgery was 8am yesterday. Doing pretty well. Was in some pain right in recovery , slept for hours, mild soreness in shoulders from gas, and some mild abdomen pain. I haven't had any narcotics since right out of recovery .. Just Tylenol and topredal. Been up walking the gas out and trying to keep doing my incentive spirometer . They just came and took my lab work. Hopefully going home today!!! Excited to start using this tool:)

Glad everyone is doing alright

Keep posting!

My wife and I had surgery late afternoon on the west coast. I am doing well but have gas pain in shoulder and chest. I've been up walking frequently, taking gas x strips with little results. It's painful but not horrible. My wife has had a few issues with nausea and a little bit of vomiting . However she's been able.to rest more than I have. She needs to walk more but has been more productive in expelling the air.

I just had my surgery on 5/12/14 so I want to wish everyone good luck on their upcoming surgery. You won't regret it!! I had very little pain & no nausea. I have a great surgeon with very specific instructions & I have followed her guidelines to the letter. She required 2 weeks before & 2 to 3 weeks after of Clear Liquids. I can't wait to get to the soft foods but I know that following her advice I won't have a leaking stomach & I will heal correctly. So far I'm down 22 lbs & already feel better. Trust me, it will be worth every painful moment to lose this baggage. Good luck to everyone.

My surgery was at noon yesterday. Woke up in quite a bit of pain. Two of my incisions that are close to eachother were really burning. Felt a little like he cut me in half lol. Once I was out of recovery I was pretty drugged up and don't remember much. I sat up though last night and could use the bathroom on my own. I've barely used the morphine pump. The nursing staff keeps calling me their ray of sunshine bc apparently a lot of people don't do this well. I had the test done to test for a leak and...NO LEAK (thank god). Hopefully starting fluids soon bc my stomach is kind of gurgling, but no hunger. Overall the worst part is the soreness but it's not unbearable. Hope everyone is doing well! Best of luck on all your recoveries!

Sleeved yesterday....1 st day post op. For me more of a pressure and achy feeling all over with the exception for the larger incision site which is what kills.

No real nausea which is what I was most afraid of.

Swallow test this morning looked good.

So if all goes as planned I will be going home tomorrow. :-)

No nausea is a wonderful thing. I am home and typing from my computer. Feeling pretty good... achy in my neck and shoulders, but other than that... not too bad..knock wood!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
