April 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support

Well I gave up on the group page. I could not figure it out. You could not access if from the phone app. It just wasn't working out for me or the other 27 people who were members. So I am starting this thread. I know there is already an April 2014 post op thread but it's a variety of people. While I totally support everyone having any kind of WLS, our experiences are not the same. Bariatric Pal has 3 sections for that very reason. I'm a perfect example. When I started on this board I used the Sleeve boards because I had every intention of having that procedure. When it changed, I jumped over here to the Bypass surgery forums. So I just wanted to make sure our April 2014 bypass folks had their own thread because we need to support each other and the issues that arise specific to the bypass. I hope that the sleeve and band folks find the same specific support in those forums. http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/384-post-operation-gastric-sleeve-surgery-questions-answers/ http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/152-post-operation-lap-band-surgery-questions-answers/

Amy, how much protein are you getting each day and what sorts of things are you eating? I am so tired of shakes. But I am unable to get any real protein numbers any other way. I totally a

Dislike yogurt and cottage cheese.

What kind of unflavored protein do you guys use and how do you mix it?

Been too busy to write the past few days but I've been keeping up with reading all the posts here. Glad to have people going through the same thing. Keep it up ladies and gents! :-)

I am 7 days post op & I am struggling with Protein too. I can't find a shake that I like. I am not a big fan of chocolate. Has anyone ever just ate Greek yogurt in place of the shakes? I would think as long as I am getting the protein in then that is all that matters. The hospital where I did my surgery has a very strict program & they do not allow exceptions. But it's my body & I think I am intelligent enough to make revisions if they work for me. Protein Shake has 30 grams of protein & Greek yogurt has 16 grams so if I eat 2 yogurts during the day as Snacks I would be getting 36 grams plus what I get from my 3 meals.

There's a website I buy my shakes from called Chike Nutrition. U can buy a sample pack that lets u try each flavor for like 6.00. They r THE BEST shakes & only ones I can actually enjoy. They also have a high protein iced coffee as well if u enjoy coffee (I'm not a coffee drinker, but my fiancé loves it! I highly recommend u give it a try. If u decide to try, please let me know what u think. Good luck to u

Thanks for the info

I use Resource Beneprotein. I just make sure the food is less than 140 degrees and I mix it in.

Has anybody had dry mouth? Mine is terrible

Finally joining the April post op side, I have been wondering where everyone went and realized it was still the pre op side lol

I totally stopped losing weight. Apparently I'm not eating and drinking enough. Are you eating six times each day?

Today I am officially ,1 month post op. MY surgery was April 15. I am feeling good! I am wearing some clothes from the other side of the closet, hehehe. I was nauseated this morning so Protein shake for me. Truthfully, I think I need a break from them. Yesterday, I had to gag my way through them. So I ordered powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup and unjury unflavored protein.

My bras are starting to be too big and undies too. Sorry if that is Tmi. Overall very happy.

How is everyone else progressing

Oh by the way, pics. The first one is April 6. The second one is may 10. Please excuse the laundry in the background
