Are you all getting in your exercise?

I wish I were but between the untreatable gout flare up and being tired from lack of intake, it's been about all I can do to work all day and go up/down 3 flights of stairs...

I do not have the energy to exercise. I have my 3 week post op appointment on Thursday and I suspect the topic will come up. I'm only getting about 200 calories a day so exercise doesn't seem like a good idea. I guess we will see. I get to add more food at the start of week 4 so that may help get the calorie count up some. I can start soft veggies, some fruit, potatoes, soft Pasta, boiled eggs and egg salad and flaky fish. I'm tired of the canned tuna/salmon!! My goal is to get to 500 calories.

Amy, why are you only getting 200 calories a day? Are you not able to get all your Protein shakes in? I'm getting around 500 calories a day. I do get tired throughout the day and run out of energy on my walks but I'm pushing the exercise as best I can. With the weight loss (30 pounds since starting pre-op diet) my body feels like Moving! I hope you can get more calories in soon.

Crystalk, that baked potato does sound good. Of course we would be full after one bite, huh? lol

I am getting the Tomato taste in with my low sodium V8 I was able to start a couple days ago.

Hi everyone! I had RNY GBP on 4/3/14 So I'm a little more than 4 weeks out. I can't seem to keep anything down except for starches & carbs. Well, liquids like my Protein Shakes are fine but solid Protein like fish, chicken, & eggs don't agree with me right now. I have an appointment to see if I have a stricture. I also see my NUT on 5/14/14. Hoping she can help me. If anyone has any recipes for me please share. I've lost 14lbs but was disappointed that it is not more. But, that's the breaks!

I want watermelon! And a salad. It's funny how our tastes have changed. I can't wait to start some soft foods. I bought cottage cheese, fanning lite & fit Greek yougart so hopefully I can start a little of that tomorrow.

I am officially on soft foods and have thrown up for the first time since my surgery. It was extremely tender fall apart pork. 2 very small well chewed bites. Didn't matter, pouch says not yet

Today was my first time. It is better than having your chest burn and heaving. I admit I absolutely hate throwing up, but would have been more miserable if I didn't

I'm three months post op and things are starting to get back to a normal routine. My surgery was Feb 6 and all went well. My surgeon found that I had a rather large hernia which he repaired but I think it made for a painful recovery. My first two weeks were the worst but so worth it. Hang in there with following the meal guidelines it does get easier. I think for me personally it's the head hunger games that seem to be getting the best of me but, I just keep reminding myself of where I want to be and it seems to be helping. Keep up the great work everyone!

MissTrish14 I'm 3 weeks today. Protein has been my big struggle. I was allowed 1/2 scrambled egg, and up to 1/4 cup canned tuna or salmon this past week. Eating "real" food was very exciting. I'm not hungry which is really good. But I don't have much energy and need to get in more protein. I'm off any protein supplements. So my calorie intake has been under 200 daily. I would like to start to exercise but I really need calories to do that.

I'm down 18.5 from the morning of surgery. 24.5 from the day I started the 3 day clear liquid diet.

Good Morning to u all.... I'm officially 4 weeks out today... Yayyy :) have been feeling great & everything has been going down smoothly. Only 1 time I experienced a bad pain from eating & it was one of the many times I had tuna. Must have ate too fast or didn't chew it good. Felt like the worst heart burn ever. Was stuck in my chest for like a good 10-15 min the. It finally went down. Hasn't happened again since. I think I learned my lesson Hahahaha. I'm down 26 lbs today as well. My dr office emailed my new diet last night that I can start as of today. Soooo excited. It has

-Vegetables (except corn)

-Fresh fruit (except grapes & raisins)

-Mashed potatoes (only form of potato I can have)

-Salad- spinach, spring mix, butter leaf & romaine only

-dressing with 5g of sugar or less

-chicken

-turkey

-shrimp

-crab

-any kind of grilled fish

Plus all the previous items from last menu... Tuna, cheese, mashed potato, cream of wheat, fat free milk, etc.

Hope everyone else is doing great as well.

I'm 19 days post op and doing really good. Since I started adding 2 ounces of liquid calories (V8, strained cream Soup ...) its been a little harder getting in my Protein shakes. The type of Protein shake I'm using - Premier Protein from costco - means I have to get at least 2 and a 1/3 in to reach my required 70 to 90 grams of Protein a day. I'm getting tired of the shakes but I just keep telling myself that it's part of the program to be healthy.

At support group last night they talked about it taking up to an hour to eat 3 ounces of solid protein in early stages. Since that would not be possible for lunch on work days I'm preparing myself for staying on Protein Shakes well into the future for work days at least.

Got my walk in this morning and it felt a little easier.

On my way to my 1st post Op. Hopefully everything is ok. That easy I can move on to stage two pureed foods. So tired of the sweet stuff and I can't stand broth. Wish me luck.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
