It may have been because your stomach was empty. I notice I'm pretty gurgly when I wake up. I keep Water by my he'd and sip through the night.

I don't think you did anything wrong to vomit. I have been nausea since surgery.(28th) today I called family doctor and was given suppositories. It has helped!! I have been really good with fluids but not Protein. I will deal with that tomorrow I needed to get dry heaves under control first. Well time to talk a nap. Then up for shower and liquids! Hope everyone is doing well

6 days post op. Still have some pain but getting better. Hole were drain was is still leaking a bit. I did not have gas very bad thank goodness. I have managed to get done all 64oz of Water and 80 to 100 grams of Protein every day I have been home. Fluids have not been an issue at all. It is a little harder to drink the sweet Protein drinks but broths are wonderful. I had made a big pot of string Beans for the family before surgery and have been using that juice as broth and adding unflavored Protein powder. Yum. Tonight I am boiling a chicken and making chicken Soup for the family so I can have the broth.< /p>

It is the Vitamins and Calcium chews that are giving me problems too sweet. I almost throwup from them.

I gained weight in the hospital back to 230. I am at 223 today. I am hoping it is all fluids and swelling.

I am glad everyone is doing well.

Hello everyone! I am 3 days out (surgery was Wed., 4/30) and am feeling pretty good! Still some trapped gas in my left shoulder - I am trying to walk it out. The abdominal gas has mostly dissipated, and have had 2 BMs (thanks to Milk of Magnesia). Have had no nausea at all since early Thursday morning, and no vomiting or other issues. Feel so blessed to have had no complications. My main incision (I guess where the port was) is somewhat sore but only when I sit a certain way.

My dr. had to repair a hiatal hernia while he was doing my RNY - I did not even know I had it! Anyone else have that happen???

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and didn't know about it.

I am so glad you are doing good. It is taking a little adjustments to

Medications and I am finally able to not to have nausea.

The BM is another story:( not happening and I have taken dose of milk of Mag which only caused me to gag! Trying to now pray the poop out of me..hahaha I know it will feel so much better, We are stronger than we think we can do this......

I'm officially 2 days post op and this was a VERY significant change in my life. But I truly believe this was the right choice. Still haven't gotten food down yet. Gas still haven't relieved yet. What's the best was to get gas out?

Walk and milk of magnesia!

I had a large hiatal hernia that I did know was being repaired. It is good you doctor took care of it as that will prevent future heartburn.

I took a sip of black coffee and had a blowout.

I am going to try that I have not taken Milk of Magnesia because I was afraid it would be too harsh. I have had a small can of prune juice over 2 days and it has not worked.

I haven't had any other issues today since this morning. I will try to go to bed with a drink next to me and sip all night. Thanks for the knowledge that I'm not in this alone !!

If it helps, my dr prescribed a chewable/sublingual Prilosec 30mg

Hello! I had my gastric bypass on April 17. Everything has gone well for me so far. The only problem I had - Constipation - the stool softener has fixed.

I'm grateful that I have done so well but I also follow the rules very strictly. I have my phone timer going off every 15 minutes while awake and drink my ounce of Protein shake or Water. Yesterday I started 2 ounces of yogurt, low sodium v8... 3 times a day.

I returned to work after a week but didn't do a full schedule. I have a system set up to keep my shake and Water nice a cold throughout the day in a insulated bag.

I never get hungry and would rather go without the Protein Shake most of the time but I do as told. I do miss eating "real" food. Hardest times have been when out and about and smelling people or restaurants grilling.

I have a good supportive spouse who will be having surgery on June 19.

Good luck to all of you!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
