Pre-surgery...I think i blew it... help?

Recommended Posts

I have to complete 6 months weight management as part of the qualifications before surgery. Well I'm almost done with it, but now I've messed up. I went nuts one weekend and now I can't get back on track like before... I'm eating less than I did before weight management, but more than I am supposed to. Even if I straighten up right now... I think I've gained weight since my last weigh in. I'm worried my nutritionist won't approve the surgery because I slipped and its making me less honest in my tracking and more likely to slip more... last nut appt is Wednesday. What do I do? Do I come clean? Will my nut refuse to send the recommendation letter I need over this massive slip? Do I say I've been a little bad? I think I've gained back 3 pounds. Help. I need this surgery. Obviously I need the tool of bypass... what should I do? What will the nut say?

3 lbs could be Water gain. it's important to be honest with the medical professionals we will be dealing with forever. but if we were successful dieters we wouldn't need wls. get back on track now. go back to a clear liquid diet and see if you can't lose the wt. you gained. so much what we have to do to be successful with the band is a lot of work. we cannot just say oh well. every hour of every day can be a new start. so start over. if you didn't gain any weight nothing has to be said. good luck. drink a lot of liquids. fill yourself up that way.

you did not blow anything

keep cheating and the dr may open the stomach and go nope, cant do it...

i read a few people that happened to.....its not worth it..for a minute or two food gasm to toss

away all that hard work.....stay busy, read, take a bath, have sex, walk, go shopping....you wont starve (although our diet thinking will let us think we are)...get back on track TODAY.....as terry said, the weight could be Water or because you didnt poop or who the freek knows......stay off the scale....when you have surgery, measuring your success is buying smaller clothes...that is a true reality to if you are losing weight.....

so do what you have to do......what you need to do... and get on with it..

if you want to lose weight and be healthy, you will..

all the best

Ok this is going to probably sound silly but I'm going to go off the "poop" tangent mentioned above...

It might very well be in your colon. You might want to consider doing a detox and using a soft colon cleanser (magnesium oxide?) to get things moving. Keep in mind though it could make you retain a bit of Water for a few days as Water is drawn and flushed through the intestines...

But ultimately I wouldn't worry too much. Get back on track and get it done! Ur sooooo close!

You're going to be just fine! 3lbs isn't anything to throw the towel in for!!!

I agree it's always best to be honest with your NUT, Dr. etc, after all most of us have been lying about what we put in our mouths for years if not a life time which is how I feel we got to where we are now. Be honest first and foremost with yourself and with those trying to help you. WE're all human afterall and I can't imagine they're going to revoke your surgery because you had a bad weekend!

Like others have said it could be Water weight. Do a Water flush which is 88oz of water the first day, 96oz of water the second and 88oz the third, along with lemon in the water and that will take care of the water retention.

You've worked way too hard to give up! Like Carolinagirl said, KEEP BUSY! When you get an urge to eat, vaccum, clean the house, go for a walk, ANYTHING!! I find that head hunger will go away in about 5 min. if you find something to keep you busy. You can stand on your head that long:-)

You've got this! Wishing you the best!

Just follow your plan and exercise before your next visit. Trust me, they know people are going to mess up. If we were so "good" at following diets would we be where we are now? Just be honest and move forward. Best of luck.

It happens. Surely she won't dismiss all your hard work for six months. One things for sure STOP WORRYING. It only provides another reason to eat your comfort foods. In fact, this might be a good time to do some self reflection and try to determine what emotions were related to your slip.

Thank you. Everyone, thank you. Freaking out has not helped me stay on track, thats for sure. But reading all your responses, and encouragement I feel better now. Thank you. I feel like I've been waiting for this surgery all my life. and the thought of losing the chance... I dint want to go there.

I only had to do the pre- surgery diet for 1 week but I was scared that I didn't lose enough weight to have surgery, but I did & I was worrying for nothing. You are probably going to be ok!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
