My PCP is a bad influence!

Recommended Posts

So two weeks ago was my Doctor's oldest son's 18th birthday and we went out for pizza and chocolate cake with ice cream. Yep, ate em all! So last night we went out for Thai for his other son's 16th birthday. I didn't order a thing...just got a small plate and nibbled from everyone else's orders.... Green Beans, chicken dumplings, shrimp wontons, duck curry, and spicy tofu. And a 1/2 glass of wine. And besides the usual chocolate cake and ice cream for desert, someone ordered fried banana cheesecake. Yum to all...bad doctor ;)

Normally I try to respond with something encouraging, but this confession has me gobsmacked. I got my sleeve in December 2013 also, and all of those foods would have made me ill and given me the runs, plus I would not even consider sabotaging my sleeve. It's been too much damn pain and work. Sounds like your doctor is more of a friend or relative than a physician whose Hippocratic Oath is to "First do no harm". So, to avoid the risk of Miss Mac sounding mean or insensitive I will say no more.

Miss Mac, Oh, this wasn't a confession of guilt or blame or looking for support, just a happy tongue in cheek "I'm living my life and I love my sleeve" kind of post. It was all definitely in moderation...one bite each of everything I listed (except the green Beans I had 3). No rice no noodles. The wine was a little experiment. Didn't really taste that great and Had no effect on me whatsoever (bummer) so I probably won't even bother with it in the near future.

Fortunately my stomach of steel has transformed into a sleeve of steel, and after the 3rd month, I've been able to tolerate anything I've tried. I'm one of the "bad sleevers" that doesn't track or count anything. I drink all day, eat when I'm hungry and always Protein first. Down 66 pounds and 4 pant sizes and I'm thrilled!

The biggest disadvantage of this high tech age is that we don't get the tone or inflection of a personal conversation. I wish you good luck and good health.

I too can eat anything / everything at this point.

This is for the rest of my life and if I try to make it in my mind where I will never eat another "bad" food I know where that will head.....sabotage for me.

I am trying to be easy on the guilt / blame / emotional stuff as being hard on myself led me to internal psych beat-downs which led to even more obsessive behaviors.

The keys so far have been never having liquids 30 before, 30 after the meals and getting my Protein first. It seems to be working.

Sorry to hijack, but, I know for me being a diet Nazi on myself will not work long-term. All of my changes are forever changes and I am at peace with it. I hope all of you are at peace too.

bearman99, you've lost quite a bit of weight. Whatever you're doing, you seem to be doing it right. Hope you're patting yourself on the back often!

I too can eat everything. Like you said a bite here. A bite there. Something I CAN live with for the rest of my life. I'm not on a diet. Just eat small meals throughout the day. Mostly healthy foods. Admittedly sometimes bad.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
