Pre- Op 7 days in - updates and questions

Recommended Posts

hi everyone! hope everyone is having a great time and recovering well! i am 7 days into my pre- op and i have lost 11 pounds. i am doing 3 shakes a day and 80+ ounces of clear fluids. i pee all day! its insane like i feel like im always running to the bathroom with the kiddos. I have 4 days til my surgery is anyone else experiencing irritability and crankiness? every soudn seems louder and smells seems more fragrant. i cook every night for the kids it is torture. last night they wanted to go to the movies so i took them and naturally i hold the youngest's popcorn bc she spills it everytime. the smell of popcorn was tempting me llol. I just learned i could season my broth with is nice but no salt. I am really anxious to just get the surgery oer with and start my healing. i feel like my body is going through such weird changes sometimes im freezing sometimes i feel like im in a suana. but usually always tired and low on patience haha.

good luck everyone!

Having to cook while on a liquid diet does not sound like much fun. I prepared my other half and told him that I did not know if I would be able to cook food if I wasn't eating any of it. So far it has worked out ok but I did notice last night as I was helping him finish dinner (he needs lots of coaching since he is not a good cook....lol) that my stomach was growling from the smells. :-)

I was sleeved on 4/8/14 so I am still in the post op full liquid phase.

Speaking of broth, I found flavored chicken broth at the grocery. They had a thai, Italian, etc. It is just plain chicken broth but its seasoned. I did strain it to be sure but that is an option for you and would provide some variety. I am not sure who it is made by but on the front it has "Chicken Soup for the Soul".

I hope that helps. Hang in there and good luck with everything in 4 days!

Tony

I saw those flavored broths in a magazine, but have not found them yet in a grocery store--glad they are on the shelf now, I'll take a look. i'm jealous of you losing weight in preop so well! I have been doing preop two but only one pounds lost it four days. Damn. But this is my busiest work time, so I am not getting much exercise either. Next week I will be able to walk more and hope to lose. I have to lose 7 to 11 pounds according to the doctor's handout booklet, and I thought on the pre-op diet I would lose faster, not so yet. The only good thing I can say is that it has not been as hard as I thought it would be to stay on it.

Here in Ohio I found the flavored broth at Giant Eagle. Target also has small boxes of Soups. Not all are appropriate for WLS patients but I did buy the butternut squash Soup that I can thin down with broth or milk. I like that it's a small box and I don't have to open and use 2 quarts.

Hey guys, well tomorrow is my day April21st.. I'm

Beyond anxious. Wondering is my house clean enough the the hubby ok taking over my usually duties. Dear god I hope he feeds the dog. Etc I'm shakey and anxious yet excited and impatient. I just want to do it already and start healing. Any last tips?? My anxiety is so high I feel like I am about to pass out :( I know I am being a baby but I can't help it. Starting weight was 273lbs but now I'm weighing in at 253.2lbs after the preop diet... I really want to get down to 135-145lbs. Is that likely possible? I'm 24 athletic flexible etc... Sorry I'm rambling. Good luck fellow 21st sleeves!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
