Does it pay for revision surgery to RNY

I would have your surgeons office send the paper work to Medicare and see if they will cover it.

I know that they will cover regular gastric bypass surgery.

Good luck to you and let us know the answer if you don't mind.

My doctor's office has said that Medicare would definitely cover my lap band removal and upgrade (as I call it) to the gastric bypass.

When I got my band in 2007 I went from 340 to 320 and then that was the end of it. I started regaining and well to make a long story short I am now 373.

So for me, the band has failed BIG TIME and now we are doing both the SAME DAY. Remove band and do gastric.

I had to have an upper GI SERIES xray, a sleep study to check for apnea, and 3 months of nutritionist meetings. I also needed a psych eval. which Medicare does NOT PAY FOR. I do not have $400 to pay for one so while searching online I found a website that does not take Medicare, but they only charge $100 and they are EXTREMELY fast and very efficient.

I took a test online and the results were forwarded to them and then a certified psychiatrist will call you when you schedule a day and time at your leisure. I did mine on a Tuesday morning and the report came in to my doctor's office on Friday.

My mother needs a revision from the band to bypass, but our doctor said Medicare doesn't cover a revision. Do you mind me asking what state you love in?

@@businessmom2011 do you still have the name of the website for the psych eval to post it here just in case someone else may need to use their services. I have Medicare/Medicaid I am so hoping I don't have to pay out of pocket, but if I do I would like to contact this place for only $100. My referral coordinator said she was using some kinda codes and doing something so I would have totally free surgery, where my two insurances cover everything, but to be safe I would like the name of that website please.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
