I had mine done at Lennox hill hospital in manhattan. I guess I wasn't excepting pain or whatever cause it's totally thrown me how much this hurt. You've got to mentally prepare yourself. Also I have nasuea and vomiting from the anesthesia so that was painful. Back home now and do better. Just trying to get all my Water and Protein in between my massive naps (walking up and down the hall takes it out of me). Oh also they don't always tell you but the surgery causes a lot of gas to build up in your stomach and then releases over the next few days and can feel painful.

What's it like a year out?

At this point it's amazing and challenging at the same time..

Let me explain ; I can now fit a size 5/6 jeans instead of an 18/19 and 20 sometimes , I am very confident more than ever but still remain humble , I get all types if compliment from both people I know and don't know .... I feel Great , look great and I'm completing loving the new me

The challenges : I still have a mind set that I'm a "Big Girl "even though I know I'm physically not big no where, it's a challenge to try to now maintain this image that the world puts on you but I just try to be myself , I get scare like every one else of gaining too much weight so I maintain being focused buttttt you may slip feeling so great and now realizing that it's been 3months since you've worked out lol

Bottom line is it's hard but worth it girl you'll look great and feel great just stay on top of it but don't get excessive and lastly don't be afraid to ask for help!!!

Good luck!!!

I had my surgery on April 28th at Westchester Medical Center. I had a pretty good time of it. My doctor did find a hernia but he repaired it and my recovery has been pretty classic. I was on pain meds until May 4 and now I need nothing for pain. I have begun to hate my Protein Shakes so I made some homemade Soups and I blend until smooth and add unflavored Unjury Protein Powder to. I made potato Soup and broccoli soup. No sodium, no fat broth, seasonings and blend, delish!! Any questions, just ask. My next doctors appointment is May 13 and I am looking forward to the weigh in!

I am feeling great. I returned to work today and am a little tired but not any more than usual. Doctor took two of meds away and my blood pressure was 107/71! I am now on stage two diet and enjoying my new life. Got a lot of complements at work today and my boss had a beautiful bouquet of flowers on my desk when I arrived this morning. It's so nice to be appreciated.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
