Changing Surgeons

Recommended Posts

I started this process with a surgeon who doesn't participate in my new insurance. Is it ok to use the same nut, psych, GI, EKG, PFT? I've given my new surgeon these records already, and they will review them.

Anyone with the same issue? I'd hate to go thru all that again!!! :(

I had that problem. I did all my stuff, Nut, Psych, everything with a facility when they went to submit to my insurance the hospital that this facility used was not an IOQ hospital (Institute of Quality) that the insurance required. It was a good hospital and I could use that hospital just not for this particular surgery. I have Aetna. So after all that the facility called me and told me I had to find a different doctor , however they had all my paper work ready to submit to insurance so they sent it to me. I found a new doctor, I did have to go to the seminar again and after that schedule an appointment with the doctor (took about a month for all this) once I saw the doctor I gave him all my paperwork he said I was ready and all they had to do was submit again to the insurance. Once insurance approved me (they submitted on a Thursday and I was approved the following Tuesday pretty fast), everything moved pretty fast. I had to get my esophagus test and some blood work for presurgery and that was it. Im scheduled for surgery April 10. I started this back in Sep 2013 and should have been sleeved in January. But I didn't have to do all the testing again my new doctor took all my paperwork and went with it. Good luck

Hi Jenelle,

I'm so happy to hear that. Good luck with your surgery, you must be very excited!!! I do hope I can get a date soon too! I'm scheduled to see the doctor on the 23rd.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
