Down 55+ lbs, I can eat anything but still struggle with pasta/bread still. I don't eat MUCH of anything, I eat a lot of small chili's from Wendys, but if I eat the crackers I can't finish the chili in one meal period.

I've started tracking my food on My Fitness Pal just to see what nutrients I take in, ensure my daily carb intake is below 30 grams per day and monitor my progress. I also want to exercise more just to record it in my daily diary. I like that this app helps keep me accountable and I think about every bite I put in my mouth because I know I'll have to record it! In a mini-stall right now at 216 and always fighting Constipation.< /p>

Going to weigh now. It's my birthday and a great present to myself would be to be down a pound...

I had my surgery on the 15th of May, what the deal with the hair loss, I was expecting it around now but I still have a full head of hair. Did anyone lose their hair yet? I love this new small stomach, no regrets yet. The only problem is when I go out and order food, I see to want to take that extra bite or two and then it doesn't feel too good. I don't crave sweets but its ok because I don't tolerate it well.

Hope you are all doing well.

Abigail, sorry about your hair loss, I wasn't too worried about losing mine, I was just curious. I know if it occurs it would be temporary like a bad hair cut. Congratulation on your great weight loss, I am having a hard time with the exercise part, first because I hate it and because of bad joints, otherwise i have no problem with the my new life. It is really a new life, food is now a different obsession. I don't have any problem with any food as long as of course its little portions and no sweets, I no longer crave sugar and I was an addict. Keep it up, you are closing in to your goal weight.

My surgery was on the 13th and I began losing my hair a couple weeks ago. I've cut it really short and it's super thick so I hope to be able to hide a lot of the damage.

My surgery was May 7th and I'm down 60 lbs and about 2 weeks ago I started loosing hair.. It seems like a lot to me but I do have a lot of hair and it's shoulder length so I hope it does not show too much. I always exceed my Protien and have taken Biotin this whole time so yeah... Nothing is gonna stop it. If your the chosen one your the chosen one... Sucks...

Ladybug and DaddyMarie, sorry for your loss... I may be the chosen one. The irony is that the prospect didn't bother me much, better bald than fat, at least for a while. It was more of a curiosity of the why. My hair is curly so perhaps its just not showing but I don't see much hair in the shower. I have been pretty good at eating 60 grams of Protein each day also.

5/7 Sleeve date for me and I am losing hair not weight. My fault on the not weight part. I'm not exercising and snacking a lot. I have not gained but have not lost in 3 weeks. But fat is redistributing because I am in a size 12 jean now and have not wore a 12 in 20 years. Sugar never a problem for me before now I am craving chocolate. Augh.

My wife and I Sleeved 5/20. I have lost 75lbs and she has lost 60 or so. We have zero hair loss issues. We track food on myfitnesspal and never go below 60-80g of Protein. I am able to eat 100g Protein some days.

Its really all about protein. Bread/pasteries/buns we dont have the room in our tummies for thT stuff or we wont make our protein goals.

I was sleeved 5/19 and am down 50lbs. I only weigh myself at dr appts and religiously use my fitness pal to monitor Protein. For people using my fitness pal what do you set your carb, Protein fat ratio to?

I am losing hair but not a lot and I have thick hair so so far nothing noticeable.

I eat minimal carbs but do like a bite or toe here and there. If I'm not eating protein I feel guilty!

I dont worry about carbs/fat at all. I mainly look at Protein and calories. I dont consider eating pasta/bread until I have met my Protein goal and even then I find carbs really fill me up so I prefer a hamburger with no bun or something of that nature. Sometimes I get the nasty message from my fitness pal that I am not eating enough though which is annoying!

I stilll only eat about 4 oz per meal, maybe a little more. I try to stay busy though because I can snack if I am not careful.

Add me on MFP: DSMCasey

Thx and good luck!

How many grams of protein do u get in aday?

I went on Premier Protein website and use their calculator, & it saw because of my height, weight & activity, i should be taking in 122 grams of protein a day. What do u think of this?

I get 80-100g. If I work out I try very hard to get 100g or more. Its hard for me to eat that much though. If you read a fitness mag or look into body building those guys with thw huge muscles eat 200+ grams of Protein. I think with our small stomachs there is just no way we could ever eat enough protein to be a body builder ha! But the same principle applies, if you eat carbs you wont have enough protein intake to maintain your muscle and you will start losing hair. Shrimp, fish, chicken breast, almonds, turkey breast, even lean steak are good sources of protein that should really be part of our core diet.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
