I kind of like my soft foods diet, it's working for me and frankenbelly has adjusted to the introduction of squishy food. I've found a pretty good variety and even though I have some sugar free snack foods, I don't really want them. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since surgery so I imagine I'll add more items and Snacks over time.

Tomorrow im going to try on some clothes and get rid of some baggies. I'm going down and not going back! Today I wore capris I haven't worn in a year or two, can't remember and they were comfortable and shirt loose. It's a good thing I'm a bit of an optimistic saver and have clothes in several sizes in my closet!

You totally rock! 34 lbs and only 2 weeks out from surgery is fantastic! Such a great feeling to get into clothes that were previously too small. And you were smart to save them. I did a major purge of my closet about a year ago and donated the clothes I couldn't wear to charity. Now I really wish I hadn't! I've dropped two to three sizes already so I've had to buy a few things, but I really don't want to waste money buying new clothes that I (hopefully) will only be able to wear for a few weeks or months. :)

Just to be clear, ive lost 14 pounds in the two weeks since surgery. In March I hit my high weight and had a bit of a panic diet prior to my 6th month dr appt. I managed to lose 10 pounds by April and then I lost another 10 pounds from April to May in preop diet. 34 total still makes me a happy camper!

You go chica! Woohoo... I'm 243 so I'm down, -28! This definitely a journey! I've been trying little stuff, but then my stomach be like, I'm not ready and I have to run the bathroom! I find myself snacking a lot, I guess because I'm not getting full meals! I snack on fresh fruit though.... I love me some Publix fruit, cut fresh! That's definitely a change for myself, because it use to be Publix cake! It feel so good to walk by that section and not be bothered! Oh yea... So DaddyMarie, what does your food schedule look like?[/QUOTDiva, That's awesome! Congrats! Isn't this fun! Lol!!! I went back to work on Monday and I work around a lot of men an they were all eyes. I have gotten tons of compliments. Ok a typical day is like this:Breakfast: Protein shakeSnack: string cheese with a slice of turkeyLunch: shredded chicken with edemame or quinoa. Snack: apple slice with almond butterDinner: a protien an a veggieThat's about it.

I have had several days of stalls. But your Nut is right. I am going to but mine away for a while. Weighing everyday is too obsessive and the longer you go between weighing the more dramatic it will seem.

I was sleeved on May 1st. Lost 30 lbs and have been stalled for several weeks. My doctor told me the same thing. Put the scale away and weigh in a month. It can be very discouraging after such a great beginning, but remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Good luck!

So reading all of this came at the right time. I woke up and weighed and went up 1.2 lbs. I was sleeved 11 days ago. Maybe it's swelling? Either way I'll quit weighing.

That darn scale is addicting. I changed a food addiction to a scale addiction. LOL I'm down 16 lbs and was sleeved on May 14th. I weigh daily, actually, I weigh several times a day. I'm participating in the 4th of July challenge here so I have to weigh in weekly. I think I'm going to stay off the scale, except for my once a week weigh-in. Maybe that will help.

For those of you who are a little further out, did you notice if your weight loss slowed down or stayed about the same when you transitioned to soft foods? I've been on pureed, but my doc says I can start to transition to soft foods now, one meal a day. I guess I'm just afraid that by doing this, it will be more calories, therefore, slow down my weight loss. Any advice?

Just had my 5 week appointment today and my LPN said to put the scale away and weigh monthly but take measurements weekly. Said that I should expect to lose only 1% of my current weight PER WEEK, which is a HUGE decrease in what I've been enjoying over the past 5 weeks on the liquid, puree and mush. Said to expect stalls that could last from days to weeks. But, she said that I should be losing inches, especially if I do weight lifting to maintain and build muscle. Good thing I got hubby a set of hand weights and an exercise weight ball for Father's Day! Guess I'll be breaking out his weights and buying a flexible tape measure. The great news is that she said that at this point after surgery, our stomachs are fully healed and not relying on the staples anymore, so there isn't a chance of bursting our stomachs, which is a huge relief. I'm looking forward to eating "normal" foods instead of toddler food! Still no raw veggies or salad, though, until 6 months out, but I can live with that! What did y'all have as your first "normal" meal??

I'm 5 1/2 weeks out but it feels like years have passed. My acid reflux is gone and I lost 24 pounds at my one month check up. I'm not feeling hunger the same but every 2 hours I need to eat something. I rely pretty heavily on dairy for Protein and it's hard to make it to 80grams of protein.

How are people getting their protein in? People using shakes? I tried an Unjury strawberry yesterday and hated it. vanilla was ok. I am also working hard to stay hydrated which is harder when it's hot out - I need more than 64 oz but it's hard to fit it in while observing the 30 min before and after rule.

How is everyone?

I'm almost 7 weeks out and I have about 60g protein a day. I rely on dairy a lot too, but I make 1 shake with jay Robb powder and soy milk. I'll also have turkey chili, chicken, and tuna. I also only wait like 5-10 mins after drinking to eat. I think the 30 mins is just for after. I haven't had many issues!

Still a little stalled on the weight but just trying not to focus on that.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
