I'm right there with you in the frustrated thing. I've had two fills, for a total of 5.5cc..I'm watching what I eat and do not eat ANYWHERE near what I ate before being banded, and I'm not losing ONE SINGLE pound....I'm getting so frustrated that I could scream...and I'm hungry... and I want chocolate and I may just cry.....LOL

Sorry I had to get that off my chest...:(

I'm sorry you are frustrated...have you had any fills? When did you get banded?

I've read on here how it can take 6 months or longer before you hit the green zone (aka sweet spot)....I was not aware that this was the case when I had the surgery...that weight loss didn't begin immediately....but no matter how aggrevated I get, I'm sure it's coming I just need to be patient...

Do you feel any restriction when eating or have any episodes of things getting stuck?

Yep, it took 6 fills in six and a half months to hit the SWEET SPOT. Lost weight all along, but I exercised daily, cut out most carbs, and limited myself in portion. The band did help with portion sizes, meaning I could not eat a plate of food and SECONDS, but, I still felt like I was trying to control portion sizes. With each monthly fill, I felt the band helping more and more...... But, I truly didn't hit the SWEET SPOT until 7 months out!

I also took six fills and accompanying time to get to a place of satiety. I've enjoyed this time -- almost five months -- just figuring it out, getting back in touch with my body and learning my way into this new banded life. I've lost 40 pounds and need to lose another 60 but I'm happy to go somewhat slowly. I knew that when I went into this. I figure it will take the time it takes.

This conversation has actually been helpful. I am down 40lbs total and just stopped. I have had only 1 fill since my surgery in January. I am still hungry, but definately not eating what i use to before the band. i do feel some restrictions when it comes to certain foods. I guess patience is the main key here and focus on what you have accomplished. I was wondering if it was something i was doing. so i have been super strict with myself, but i dont want to create negative habits. But i guess i got so excited to constantly see movement on the scale, to the numbers not budging at all.

Lets keep encouraging each other people, to keep moving forward.

Had surgery 2 19 13 with 2cc in band. Six weeks later had 2 cc and the 1 and then .5 and .5 with my last fill being 9 3 13. Yesterday I had .5 removed due to the fact that I have been coughing and spitting up phlegm after I eat. I had 6cc for over 7 months and it took that many trips back for fills to get it right. Every 6 weeks until I saw green for sure. 90 pounds gone with about 10 in the wings waiting to go. Everybody is different. Read about one man who had 18 fills before he got it right.

I agree with the previous post. It all depends on the person. But remember that once you start loosing weight all the fat around your stomach is gone and the band starts to feel loose, so you won't feel restricted any more, you will Plateau and stop loosing. Sometimes a person just need less than 0.5 cc fill in order to feel restriction, as incredible as it seems, it happens, sometimes 0.5 is too much and 0.2 is nothing...

In my personal case, I started to feel on the green zone with the second fill, but as much weight was gone i started to feel less restricted and I starting to go more often for fills. I am currently on 7 cc's, maintaining and feeling OK on portions and appetite control. I've been with these 7cc's for more than a year.

Also remember, as the quantity matters, it is very important to eat the right foods. If we want to loose weight, we need to forget about carbs, sweets, milky shakes, fry foods, pizza, breads and sodas. Those items are a No-no regardless you have a band or not, but your band won't tolerate that behavior on your part. Remember is only a tool, but you have to make the right decisions. Allow yourself to one indulgence a week. It really works!

Good Luck. Maria

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
