No regrets here, had no pain, no nausea, have not vomited one time either. Just had some hot wings (4) from chillies for dinner and they went down fine. I'm almost 9 weeks out and I'm down 63 pounds. Not doing anything was a bigger risk for me. I have three teenagers at home and I kept wondering how my wife was going to explain to my kids that their daddy had died from a heart attack or a stroke because he weighed 300 pounds. Everyone on this site was scared at some point before their surgery, but when you are unhealthy you live in fear everyday. Now for the first time in a long time I truly believe I will live to be an old man. No more fear here.

3days postop. Not having pain anymore except my neck.prob from the way they had me positioned or may be gas. I. Do feel hungry but I know I can't eat just yet. Full liquids for 6 days. Just write down pros and cons. You will make the right decision. Night before surgery I did not sleep, that's when mynerves started..Go for it.

Btw, I review medical charts for a living and because of that I was able to see my future had I continued weighing 300 pounds. It ain't pretty! Take your time and do your research, talk to your family and let them know how you feel. You will know when it's the right time.

I'm 2 weeks post surgery and I feel great. I had some nausea and hardly any pain. I've worked through some emotional things I've needed to for years, I've lost 20 pounds, and took 3 bags of clothes to the Goodwill.

My advice is make sure you are ready. If you are concerned about the procedure itself call your doctor, talk to him / her about those concerns. If you are concerned about life post surgery -- this is where all the work takes place and I feel this is where you have to be sure you are ready to commit.

I wish you the best of luck.

I, too, am SO happy I made this commitment! It's radical, yes, but I am much much better me for it! Blessings on your decision. I wish I had done it sooner.

I'm just over 2 months out and my only regret was not doing this sooner. I can't remember the last time I felt this good.

I can empathize what you are going through. My surgery is April 9th and I am having similar feelings. It has been a long time coming between all of the doctors appointments, consults, time off from work etc. I keep going back to my original plan and see what sense this makes for me. Relax, try not to read other people's horror stories. If you have faith in your surgeon and you have done everything you could to prepare, you will be fine. God Bless and this time next week we will both be on the other side and beginning a new way of life.

If you have had any past surgeries, you can compare your recovery to those. I had a few surgeries in the past with no complications, and this one was the same... no complications. Good luck to you!

Thank you for this! I have had gall bladder surgery and was fine. I actually went back to work the next week! I'm trying to focus on that!

I had no gas pain, no nausea, no vomiting or any other problems. I have always bounced back from surgeries in the past. My worst pain was the back ache I got from the crappy hospital bed. I know how you feel, though. I had to have a 7 hour spinal surgery a few months after my husband passed away. I was terrified of leaving my son an orphan. That was 10 years ago and I'm still here! This surgery was not nearly as scary.

I don't know. My surgery was great! I had some minor things that happened, like nausea from the dye that you have to drink, and from another medication that I had to drink, but that was all. I had a private room, with a great medical team that knew their stuff, and some great Nurses. No major pain after surgery only tenderness around the large incision and adjustment to the liquid diet. Let's see, lost 21 lbs in 12 days and can tell that my clothes are getting looser.

Everyone is different, but you didn't go through the pre-process for nothing. Sometimes you just need to have a little faith!

Good Luck!

By the time your are done with the two week liquid diet you wish you were dead so go for it. We all die sometime and this way you get to chose if it is being fat and dead or skinny and dead. I think skinny is way better less paul bearers.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
