New problem: Getting weak/winded at the gym

Recommended Posts

I've been going to the gym for about a month now 3x per week for 1/2 hour with a personal trainer. She has no experience with VSG or any other bariatric surgery. The first few weeks I felt amazing and powerful during and after each session. However the last two sessions I've had to quit early due to being severely winded, not being able to catch my breath, and feeling weak/dizzy. I don't think the workouts are any different. I'm not eating any differently, if anything I've been more aware of my eating. I'm drinking lots of Water. I think I need a nutritionist but can't seem to find one who will work with me, they all say they won't take patients who didn't have surgery at their facility. (I went to TJ)

My question is, what things would make me suddenly more winded and dizzy? What changes should I make?

For reference, I try to eat about 1,000 calories a day. I try for 100g of Protein but usually only manage about 65-70. I eat before I work out. Today I had a Think Thin Protein Bar before my workout, the other day I had cottage cheese with strawberries before my workout.

You may need a few more healthy carbs before your working out, your eating pre work out but it's low Carb try adding something like a piece of whole grain toast, banana etc not a lot just a little something than you want Protein after your work out preferably within the hour after

You may want to get some blood work done at your regular doctor, and in the meantime, eat some carbs instead of Protein before your workout. I had a similar experience, and turned out I was a little low in Iron (anemia). Felt so, so much better with a small supplementation!

Exercise induced hyponatremia....low sodium (salt). Drinking Water during a workout also flushes out the sodium faster, thus why they have "sports drinks" such as Gatorade to keep your sodium levels up. Try drinking Gatorade at the gym.

It could also be your heart (those were my symptoms and my ONLY symptoms and I ended up with an emergency triple bypass surgery and almost DOA) - call your doctor.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
